Warning About Spray-In Bedliners

I have had my spray-in bedliner for about 2.5 years. It is black and it has faded quite a bit but it also appears to be cracking and flaking off. So I thought maybe the liner was a water based bedliner and it was dry-rotting from the sun. But I was told that the people who did probably did not sand the bed down to allow the liner to stick better to the metal which is why it is flaking off. I'm not sure what kind of warranty I have or is there is anything they can do about it. I was also told that most companies do this even Rhino cuz it saves them time from having to sand the bed which makes them more moeny.

Just a heads up.

Is there any kind of repair kit that can be used on these spray-in liners?  I found a deep scratch/cut on mine this weekend where it has lifter a small piece and is scratched beneath it to bare metal.  Does anyone know of a fit?

Also, when I bought my truck it already had a spray-in liner so I don't even know what brand it is, but mine is fading as well and seems to be hard.

I have had some minor fading but to fix that i use 303 protectant.  It brings he nice black color back after 1 coat

303 is really good stuff.

I guess I'm lucky on my bedliner. I saw how it was applied after they totally destroyed my bed with 60 grit sand paper. I mean it was all tore up and then they wiped it down with prepsol. Now if my bedliner doesn't stick to that then nothing will.

Speedliner has a really good warranty and the guy that sprayed mine told me if I get any deep cuts or gouges to bring it back and he would fix it under the warranty. Now from what I know this is a dealer to dealer thing. I guess it is the advantage to living in a small town and dealing with the same individual for ever. He warranties the liner for as long as you own the truck. But that varies from dealer to dealer is what he told me.

I guess it all boils down to your truck. If you can get it sprayed on and know the dealer then that is great, but buy a truck with it already on and not know the brand or dealer then your at the mercy of the product at hand.

So far it is 16 months old and it is still rubbery and shiny black. I guess time will tell.

Most spray in bedliners come with lifetime warranties...although the sun does help in making the liner fade, soap is also a major contributing factor.  Think about it...of all the times you have washed your trucks, how many of those times did you spray all of the excess soap out of the bed?  I never do...but a lot of soap winds up in there.  Ever noticed that when you hit the liner with water, soap seems to come out?  Most of these spray in's are coated with dried up soap.  So to help keep your bedliner looking alright, spray it out.

Ive had good luck with rhino liners.  I have had their products in 3 trucks. Oldest liner is 6 years, yes it has faded a little, but it is structurally solid, and shows now signs of deterioration.  And if I decided to spend the time to use some 303 on it, I could have it looking alomst as good as new.

As far as repairs go, I know that Rhino linings are repariable, I found this out when I got hit and the body shop had to replace an entire bed panel.

I have line x and was told that it has a life time warranty as long as I own the truck.  Any stains, gouges, divits, and scrapes would be fixed for free.

Mine is LineX. It's the first spray in liner I've owned and I think its the best way to go. looks great, gives me full access to the bed hooks and isn't slippery. I've seen trucks several years old with liners that still look great. Drop ins suck.

I don't know the name of my spray in, but I had it done at a local custom shop 4 years ago, and I love it.  It is a little faded, but I am going to try some of this 303 everyone is talking about...where can I find it?

*Cheap Infomercial Sounding Plug* 303 is available at most truck stores that sell tonneaus as well as certain autoparts stores(Murray's in Ohio here has it).

question for those using 303: should I use a cleaner before using the protectant?  Also, would it be bad on the bedliner to use a tire brush and some Westley's Bleech White before using the 303 protectant?  Thanks for the input.

Found some at the local boat shop.

I bought a gallon of 303 last summer for like $48 from performanceproducts.com

It is well worth it cause i was spending like $12 on a small bottle locally.

I wouldnt use westleys bleach white before you put on the 303 i dont know what effect it has on the liner.  What i do is spray any debris out of the bed then let dry (usually a day) they i get a rag and go to town on the liner.  I hauled all that dirt and i was washing out the bed a few days ago and you could see some white foam when i was rinsing it was the 303 it actually stayed in the liner over winter.  Pretty good stuff

Most all boat dealers and supply places carry it. They make a really good product. You can also get it online at Overtons

303 just came out with a really good cleaner. Don't know if I would use it to clean food like they say you can but it works well.
