Old Member... New Truck

I have the AMP steps. I think they were around $1200. Yes, they are on the truck in that picture. You don't notice them as they are under the rocker panels but above the bottom of the frame. Once you see how they fit and work, you won't want anything else.

And I told myself I was buying a truck so I'd stop modifing......right.

Welcome back! Beautiful truck!

And I told myself I was buying a truck so I'd stop modifing......right.

I said the same thing but I'm waiting till either they get these shakes and vibes worked out or I'm getting another truck. Can't stand it when I drive it on the highway

Indigo Blue Metallic is definitely one of GM's best blues. I think they brought it back (or something very similar) on the 12 or 13's for a short run.

Crappy cell pics of my two trucks together. The GMT800 was clearly larger, but the new truck looks almost comical next to it's 48 year old brother.

I ordered an Extang Trifecta Tonneau Cover this afternoon and according to the fedex tracker the dang thing will be here tomorrow! I also ordered a set of GM molded Splash Guards with the Bowtie. My GMT800 was riddled with paint chips along the rocker until I installed a set of the molded splash guards. GM obviously put a lot of coating on the rocker and back of the bed, but why not further protect it?

My yard is completely fried... it's barely rained and been 90+ everyday for almost 2 months now. The last few summers have been nice and we would have a quick afternoon shower just about every day, then it moved on... this year... very little rain.

Did ya add a white top to the 67 somewhere along the way?

I bought the truck from a family member in 1997 when I was 16. I had bought a 1958 Apache truck when I was 14, but realized it was "too old" to drive regularly (my dad has it still and is making a cool project out of it) so my first vehicle that I actually drove (parents made me wait until I was 17 to get license) was the 67 C10. The first pic is how it looked for many years (but it look way better the first few - the pic is 8-9 years later when the cleared over flat black primer had severely faded/deteriorated and had been touched up a bunch). Drove her to HS like that.

After sitting since I started college in '99, in 2002 I swapped the I6/3spd for a 350/700R4 and added power disc brakes. I was able to drive it to Clemson for my 2003/04 years. That was pretty awesome.

I graduated in 04, got my first Civil engineering job and started to restore the truck in 2006. I did all the paint/body including removing the in cab tank from the cab and putting it under the bed with a fender fill from a 88-98 Silverado in the fender. It was finished in fall 2006.

I thought the truck was "too much blue" and painted the top in late 2007. The "mullet look" is a 67 only thing, 68-72 had the entire tops (including A pillar and door frames) painted white. I also added Vintage Air about that time.

It was part of my wedding in 2008.

This is one of those trucks you never sell. I still drive the piss out of her. She's actually getting a shop truck make over. I have an ECE drop kit, GM crate 350, new wheels, and an all GM steel short fleet bed.

I haven't been able to work on the truck the past couple of years because I bought one of them F words that got in the way.

I gutted the entire interior, repainted the dash, put dynamat everywhere, new carpet, I recovered the seats with custom TMI bolstered material in custom colors I picked out, added speakers and hidden stereo (it's in the center console), new window rollers and realigned all the windows (the gaps etc. were pretty bad), new door panels, 3 point seat belts etc.

The front suspension was completely rebuilt with a lot of street or track stuff including roller perches and adjustable strut rods to compliment the Shelby drop.

I rolled the fenders and added cool wheels (that was scary with a painted car!).

I added Vintage Air A/C.

I replaced the timing chain and a lot of the main accessory wear components and resealed just about everything (car was restored in 2006/07 and was driven very very little before I got it in 2002 - EVERYTHING leaked!) Installed a high amp alternator to handle A/C, stereo and new electric fan.

I also removed the automatic C4, bought a used T5 5 speed from a 1997 Mustang V6, rebuilt it (first trans rebuild ever) and drove the car 3,427 miles on my first ever long haul on the 2015 Hot Rod Power Tour with my wife. We drove through SC, NC, TN, KY, IN, MI, IL, WI, MO, MS, LA, AL, FL, and GA.

Wow, the Mustang is great! But I'm a diehard Chevy guy and love the 67 C-10. They are both beautiful.

I also had a 67 C-10 for my first vehicle, white fleetside, I-6, 3 on the tree. How I wish I still had it.

Thanks for sharing the pics.

Ooops, looks like my pics got out of order above... the black primer pic was supposed to be first.

I have a 67 Firebird too, it was my dad's car when I was little, but it's a rusty POS now in pieces. I've been collecting a lot of rust free GM parts for it. I have an original solid front clip with an original 400 hood, solid doors and trunk lid. I'll only need to use aftermarket quarters and floor.

I wanted a 67/68 Camaro... but for one in the same condition as the Mustang was when I bought it, I would have had to shell out $21-24K. I got the mustang for a little over 13K. The mustang is 100% original ford metal minus ONE patch panel on the PS floor board. It was stored indoors almost all it's life in Asheville, NC.

My C10 was a 3 OTT too, but I hated it and moved it to the floor. I did the 700R conversion because that's all that was affordable to me back then, had I known better, I would have left the 250 I6, hopped it up a it, and done an S10 T5 swap.

Since ya sharing, would you mind posting pictures of the interior of your C-10?

My latest thread for the new "fleetside CST" build... don't get too excited... haven't made it very far yet, mostly a parts collection and I started rust repair on the bed...
