How do you shut the voices up?

So I'm driving my truck when I get a text message. I choose to listen to it. I get 5 minute of gibberish at way too loud a volume I can't turn down and can't stop. Drove the wife crazy. I tried to pull off so I could just turn the truck off to shut the voice off. It did stop before I found a spot, but man that was annoying.

When I looked at the text later, it was a picture. I figure either something went weird with the picture coming through or the software doesn't know it's a picture. Either way it seems to have rattled off the ascii equivalent of the picture.

Is there something I can push when this happens to shut the voices up?

The mute button on the right side of the steering wheel didn't work? That usually works for me but I don't think I have the txt message reading capability just the OnStar lady that occasionally talks. Also, there is a setting that I think can lower the voices and chimes. I can't remember exactly where it is.

The buttons on the steering wheel did not do a thing. I had the voice setting as low as I could in the main settings, but could not turn the volume down any more while the message was being read.

Either you are bat-shit crazy or have a wonderful sense of humor. Does that hat help with the voices and is the cat still able to communicate with you while wearing the protective helmet?

Use the voice command button and say cancel. Im a sales consultant for a dealership and all of us sales guys have a group text that does the same thing. Basically it's just the system reading the coding. Drove me nuts until I figured that trick out.

The radio volume control knob, that controls phone volume when in phone mode, can't be used to turn that voice down?

Thanks.

I'll try that next time. Might have to get someone to send me a picture to try it out.

That, or the buttons on the back of the wheel.
