I live in the Pittsburgh and winters here suck A** is there any problems with a catch can in cold climates, such as cracking and such?

I live in ND and haven't had any issues with my RX catch can. Catch cans just need to be drained more often during the winter because of all the water they collect. I drain mine at least once a month during the winter.

Been running an Elite catch can on two different vehicles for five years now in central IL. Our winters are pretty comparable to yours and not a single issue and lots of junk captured that would have otherwise passed through the engines, both of which are 6.2L. Check out the topic in this section:

The "Catch Can" Explained

Lots of good reading and Steve at Elite offers top notch service. Highly recommended company.

I have had mine through 2 winters with quite a few days below zero. No issues but I drain more frequently as it does pick up condensation

dumb question, but if the dealership see a catch can do they give any bs about it

I told my service manager I had one and he didn't seem to care at all. Sure that's different when it comes to warranty work

At my last oil change the service advisor just asked how i liked it and if it collected much. He said he has seen more and more people putting them on and it looked like better quality than most he has seen put on. Sounds like alot of people are going with cheap ebay type models.

I had some single digits here in Virginia last winter and no issues with the catch can at all. Like others said, just be sure to drain it often because of the water that gets collected. The contents will freeze in the can too so I make sure to keep it empty enough to not block any airflow and allow for expansion when it freezes. But other than that you shouldn't have any problems.

Also I've had one of my free oil changes and some other warranty work done since installing the can and the dealer never said a word about it.
