Anyone have any experience with these in the GMT-900s? I was thinking this would be the way to go for strut replacement in the front end of my truck. So much easier than dealing with spring compressor, etc. Do we think the spring that comes with this unit will be at least comparable to OEM quality?

With aftermarket quick struts they use one weight capacity spring and one strut. At the factory you might have 10-15 different combination. And that would depend on what options would come with the truck. And those combination were endless. So that is the reason for so many different combinations. If it were mine and there wasn't a load of miles on the truck where the springs are sagging. Then I would just keep the old springs (keep the old trim height) and put new struts in and try and keep it as original as possible. But that is an individual choice.

I thought about that. I think the ride height should be the same with the quick strut springs. If the dampening rate is a little stiffer I think I can deal with that. Most people liked the handling/trailering suspension more anyway than the "solid, smooth" ride that I got (ie base suspension). I can't believe it all crapped out after 50k miles!

I know this thread is old as heck, but this is correct advice.  I just did my struts again and did a Monroe QuikStrut.  It produced a softer ride and actually lowered the front end a little.  Neither of these were welcome changes.  Im really glad I saved OEM springs.  So, after about a year of QuickStrut I switched back to new OEM struts and factory springs.  I forgot how much better it was.  So anyway, yeah, heed the advice above if you want to keep your OEM ride quality.  If you have a beater and you just need a quick fix I’m sure the QuikStrut would be fine.
