From what I have read, all vehicle's factory speed limits are set for the speed rating of the tires they use on them...Mine was 98 also haha

My '16 RCLB with the 5.3L and 3.42 rear end hit 107. I don't know if that was the limit or not, had to slow down, for the corner on a racetrack, of course.

Because full size trucks are not made of the same performance parts that Corvettes are. That driveshaft and LT tires are not designed for it.

I agree i dont have proof to back this up but when i had my 11 ram 1500 hemi (2wd) tuned. I forget where i set the gov at but I went past 120 with the revs still climbing. Lucky I didn't blow a tire or hurt something. Its hard to slow a truck down at those speeds

You could have kept on going my 16 ccsb same as yours just z71 hits 112 makes me wonder why did gm give these trucks a high top speed linit on the dash when we cant physically hit it?

My '15 silverado topped out at 98 MPH but my 16 I had going 110 and still was pulling, but I know the limit definitely changed after 2015

It's not just the tires, it's also the drivetrain componants- Some things are just not engineered to go 130 MPH. Transfer cases blowing up, drive shafts snapping, just to name a few..
