2015 LED Upgrade

Recommended Posts

Posted

I want to upgrade to LED on the headlights and foglights.

What are my options? I read they are more reliable in the long run over HID.

Or should I just go cheap and update the bulbs to Sylvania with a whiter color pallette?

I'm not trying to achieve Mercedes or BMW light output. I just want a whiter color than factory yellow. A little more light output would be great too but I'm not looking to light up the world.

I went with the Xenon Depot LED Heads and fogs and they are much better than stock and are pnp. I have pre-ordered the new VLEDS fogs that are not out yet and are suppose to ship at the end of this month.

We the change to VLEDs over the XENON DEPOT fog lights?

Suppose to be much brighter. The VLED are 3000 lm.

This looks pretty promising. I assume everything is there and it's an easy install? Or is the kit not all inclusive?

I don't really want HID lighting. That's too bright and will blind other drivers. I've seen HID in other trucks and Mercedes and that's just too bright for me. I'm thinking LED is more reliable, longer lasting, and a better investment overall for me and my needs.

Is there a legal issue with LED lights? All 2016's are going to them so I am assuming not an issue?

Is it simply plug and play type install?

I just looked at my headlights and fog lights today. Simple to get too but a little tight around the foglights. If it's simply pull the old and connect with new.....sign me up.

The VLED website says their fog lights are 850 lm

Your looking at the wrong ones. Look for the ones below. They have the fan on them and I called and spoke with tech support because I was concerned about the fan being on the outside. They said they don't recommend them if your going muddling but will be fine for normal driving. My thinking is that even of the fan goes out those blades should dissipate the heat real good since they will not be covered up.

Anyone know the answer to the question above?

They are just pnp. When I did my fogs it was a pia to get the plug out so I just took the entire lense out the front which made it real easy.

Do you need to buy the canbus upgrade with these lights as well?

Yeah tat was my next question.

What the heck is a canbus?

It says on the site the canbus is for cehicle that blonk fast when a bulb is out or if a light comes on on the dash of vehicle to notify driver of a light being out. So i would assume it is needed for our vebicles.

First of all. There is already a topic on this. Check it out....

And to answer your question, I am running the LEDs without the CANbus upgrade and have zero issues. There is absolutely no flickering.
