Guys with the All Terrains didn't put the canbus on and have had no issue with flickering. That's the route I'm going with initially.

Your looking at the wrong ones. Look for the ones below. They have the fan on them and I called and spoke with tech support because I was concerned about the fan being on the outside. They said they don't recommend them if your going muddling but will be fine for normal driving. My thinking is that even of the fan goes out those blades should dissipate the heat real good since they will not be covered up.

Did anyone ever install these??? I am going to order a set but have a couple of ?s. ?1. Where they plug and play? Looks like they come with a converter box (forgot what the box is called) like a hid would com with. ?2. Are they really 3000 lms? That's a lot! Any one have pics of their install where you mounted the box. Was there enough length of wire?

I put them in and like other led fogs I had to remove the o-ring. They are pnp and the do have a canbus. For now I have the canbus mounted with zip ties just for my trial period. They are very bright and you can actually see a big improvement over stock. My fogs are now functional. They really light up the road directly in front of the truck and on the sides. So far no one has flashed their brihhts at me.

Are you looking at all the pictures. Shows a converter box. In the tab that says what's included it specifies there are 2 converter boxes. FishinJ, you say they are pnp but also you hooked up the converter box which I am guessing is the canbus? But I think of pnp being taking the old bulbs out putting new bulbs in with no extra steps. I am ordering them either way just trying to know exactly what o am getting in to.

They do have the canbus and everything just plugs in. You don't need to mod anything. Truck plugs into the canbus and the canbus plugs into the light.

This thread has bounced all over the place. Can someone with first-hand experience reground it?

Specifically, what is the light output of the XD, LED head lights in a Sierra in comparison to the OEM light bulb? Are they brighter or not? Do they light up the road better or not?

I was about to click the order button, but these back and forth comments have me wondering if there an improvement over stock, or if it's just a waste of money.

That's where I am Mdrew. It's hard for me to believe these things are 3000 lms. But I'm going to take Fishins word for it. As long as the look better and light the side up better I am in. They look awesome and very well built on the web site.

J-Doc did you put the LED's in the 3 and 9 position? Mine are set there and have a much better pattern than yours. Love what the HID fogs do and that is what I want them for.

FishinJ, how did you get your bulbs at the 3 and 9 position? I purchased the xenon depot 9012 led upgrade and they will only go in at 12 and 6, also are you using the canbus?

I just put them in and turned them to the 3 - 9. Both went in the same way. They are not locked down and it was approx another 1/4 turn to get them all the way there. I am using the canbus and I shoved it into the bottom of the light fixture below the light.

They seem to be staying just fine and I read where others on here say the same. When twisting it seems nice and firm. Sorry no pics.

Hi all,

New as a member to this forum but I’ve been reading up on the LED lighting for a while now. I purchased the 9012 LED’s from Xenon Depot. Came in over the holidays and I finally installed Monday. I’ve read mixed opinions on using or not using the CANBus so I decided to get them just in case. I installed both lights without issues, didn’t use the CANBus. Locked both bulbs in the 3-9 position as many here recommended. Both lights fired right up, didn’t notice any flickering. Put everything back together, backed the truck out of the garage and here is where the problems begun. The driver side bulb went out after about 1-2 minutes while the passenger side stayed on. I checked all the connections, tried again and the same thing happened. I next connected the CANBus and the lights didn’t even come on. So I pulled out my trusty multimeter and started going through the wiring. Without the CANbus I’m getting 12V to both bulbs. With the CANbus plugged in I’m getting 1.47V to the bulbs. Hard to believe but it seems I got two bad CANBus’s from XD. I spoke to their customer service and they are sending two new CANBus’s so I’m hoping this will resolve the issue. Bottom line, I’ve not had a good experience installing these. It’s all plug and play, but does not seem to be working as advertised. Anyone else have a similar experience these bulbs? How did you manage to fix?
