I'm not aware of any ignition override available on the wife's button start impala.

 

There is an override for the the presence sensing door lock (in case of a dead battery).

 

Supposedly on Chrysler stuff you can touch the fob to the button if the transmitter fails.

Impala fob has a flip-out key. I'm surprised it can't be used to start it.

 

(in fairness, the only time that it would be useful is if the pushbutton failed; door unlock ability is more likely to be useful since gets you to the hood release to deal with a battery problem)

That works in the case the fob has a weak or dead battery. Push the start button with the base of the fob, I think there is a coil that will induce power to the fob.

 

I had an issue with the receiver part rather than the fob. They had to tow it to the dealership to repair. It just randomly happened and let me stranded. When they did fix it, the air compressor module also broke when they upgraded the software. The same vehicle had issues with the rear window switch of all things (a computer module). Constant DEF purity issues despite the dealership flushing it and refilling with a new batch. It is why I didn't go with a Ram despite some good deals. It's the same electronics as Jeep.
