Am I ruining my new truck?

Why? The same person can spend 40-50K on a loaded sedan or some other SUV to drive their short distance in style. Some people just prefer to spend that money on a truck.

To each his own and I don't know his life situation. But one can be in a pretty bad ass car for 30. SUV for 35 pocket 10-20k. just a thought

Sure, I had several of those cars and an SUV over the years so I am not really a "truck guy", my 2015 is my first truck. That being said, there are a LOT of "truck guys" out there and would rather not drive at all than drive anything but a truck. Short of maybe Corvette, Camaro Vs Mustang and exotics/classics enthusiasts, I have never seen people more passionate about their vehicles than "truck guys".

I'm in much the same situation - except unfortunately I only drive mine every couple of weeks. I commute to DC everyday and take a van pool so my truck is a garage queen. love driving it, but with work schedule etc, it only gets out every couple of weeks. Going to put a battery tender on it this winter just to be sure. I also just went over 1000 miles so I think I am going to do the first oil change.
