Price negotiation on 2016 orders?

What kind of price are you guys paying for your 2016 orders? This is the first vehicle I've ordered before they arrive on lots, and the first time I've ordered a "new" model first year it was released, so I'm curious what kind of pricing negotiation/leverage I have. I planned on discussing the fact that the truck won't have to sit on the lot, so I thought that may be a bit of leverage, but I'm not sure. I do have GM Employee pricing, but I know a normal customer can usually negotiate below that price so I may not end up using it.

For the record, I'm ordering a 2016 Sierra Denali, so I know the mark-up is quite high compared to base level trims. If it's better to wait until they have them on lots I can. I also wonder if/when any rebates would be available for these new models.

I appreciate any assistance you all can provide.

Its hard to say. On a ordered truck for something that has not come out yet. There obviously wont be many incentives, I would think invoice pricing would be fair to get, but anything less might be stretch.

Are you talking the employee discount or the friends and family employee discount(supplier pricing) the first is something like 6% below invoice, the latter is something like invoice minus 1%(which to be hones it a good deal but not great).

In general if your talking the true employee pricing that's usually pretty hard to beat, end of model year on a lot car it might be able to beat. But pre order on something that isn't out yet, I highly doubt your going to be able to beat employee pricing.

I have true employee pricing, which equates to about $6k off. I really need another $3k off, which is easy on the 2015s, but I realize it could be a stretch for the new one. I was hoping someone out there may have negotiated a good deal on one of these, as I've seen people do up to 25% off the 2014/15 model.

When I ordered mine last year, you basically have to wait until the truck comes in and take whatever incentives are available at the time. Order up front with your employee pricing and take the incentives at delivery. Do your research, too. I was able to join the Farm Bureau ahead of time (for $46), and get an additional $750 off the price with the Farm Bureau discount. Plus you get some other nice benefits from the FB.

Incentives are announced on the first of the month. I took physical delivery on Feb. 2, 2015, but the incentives were better in January, so my salesman put the delivery date as Jan. 31 so I could get the extra incentives. He let me wait until the incentives were announced for Feb. before setting the delivery date.

Sticker was $54,250, negotiated sale price was $48,500. Minus incentives of $2000 (GM to dealer), $1,000 (GM owner loyalty). $500 (Credit Union), $750 (Farm Bureau), Total sales price $44,250 + ttl.

Good info! Thanks! I did read yours in the large pricing thread as well. I looked at the FB discount, but unfortunately it, like many discounts, don't apply on top of GM employee pricing.

Some on things on pricing. Never believe what you hear on the internet. Often times once you get the nuts and bolts of it guys forgot to add in some one in a million discount a trade etc.

As you know once you slap down employee pricing that's it. Then of course incentives on top of it. A new 16 you might see 500-1000 in incentives. Like I said earlier I don't see how your going to do better than employee pricing right now as far as money off invoice before incentives.

Also keep in mind with pricing and internet talk there is a way to look at it. 1. There money off of MSRP which anybody can deal on that, IMO anybody can at least get to invoice pricing, a good deal is probably invoice minus 1-2% for the average joe. Or if you have the employee pricing that takes you below invoice by either 4 or 6%.

Once you got that out of the way there incentives this should have nothing to do with how you got your money off MSRP. Now take in mind incentives are not the same for everybody. They have to do with what your buying, where you live, and who you are. Theres always hidden factory to dealer incentives but the dealer might not or probably wont tell you those. You can always ask the dealer for incentives or look on the chevy websites. But if your military that's 500, if you can get USAA that's another 1000. Another way to get some money off is to finance through the dealer, they get points on your loan and make money on it. Now its not a lot of money but its some. But be careful the rate the dealer gives you might be higher than you can get on the street, so you may save 500 bucks but their interest rate cost you 700, making it not worth it.

Its likely on a 16 right now your not doing better than employee pricing and available incentives. You might be better off waiting till xmas comes around and seeing what deals are out there. Or lowering your expectations for what you want.

And Im sure some people have scored 25% off, but that's pipe dreaming for most. Your talking 15-20k off for some trucks to get 25% off

Appreciate it! I'm not seeing any incentives for the 2016s yet, so I'm hoping some will be available soon. I really only need a couple of incentives to get the price where I need it, so I'm hoping to see some soon. I may wait until they are on the lots to see what's available.

The 2016s will be tough to get discounts on for a little while. Employee pricing is a pretty good deal - don't expect a whole lot below that for at least a couple of months - until the 2015s have thinned out. Maybe the first of the year?

Yeah, I may wait until the first of the year...still trying to decide. I had a 2016 Denali on order but canceled the order for now.

I suggest waiting because nothing clear about discounts yet, I think pricing will go down faster than you think!

BTW what engine do you prefer the 5.3L 8spd or the 6.2L 8spd?

Posted

6.2 all the way! I'm used to the VortecMax 6.0L in my 2008, and drove a buddie's 5.3, and with all the towing I do and the way I drive, have to do the 6.2.

Well I searched for 6.2L option but didn't find one available. I think you have to wait longer time
