If ordering one today, I'd get another 8 speed.

Hey it sounds like a crap shoot. If you got a good one I understand. I was one of those early ecoboost owners who never had a lick of trouble in 3 1/2 years while others were going through hell with theirs.

Mine hasn't been 'perfect', but I really like the way it works when towing.

(not as nice as Dmax/allision combo, but I no longer need that much towing capacity)

I'm really starting to feel like cutting ties with gm. I guess I will let them put the new tranny in and go from there.

That's what I did after months or run around from the dealer and GM, but I had different issues. In less than 24 hours they have a new transmission coming for you? To me that's a pretty good effort on their part. Might want to let it play out, if you have the patience.

I'm extremely happy with my dealership just discouraged with the product. I do like my truck a lot so I'm gonna see how the new transmission does, but if it starts acting up again it will be gone. The only vehicles I have had trouble with through the years have been my gm's. I had two lifters replaced in my '09 Silverado. I do know all manufacturers have issues but when it's with the driveline it's a bigger deal to me. I will definitely keep you guys updated.

I know..... I was told it takes weeks to go through GMs legal dept etc.... I'm not going to get excited until it's done

I'm not a huge fan of the 8 speed but I'm thankful there are no problems with mine. Personally, I'd prefer the 6.2 with the 6 speed tranny.

No you wouldn't. My 6-speed shifted like crap. My 8-speed is 1000x smoother.

For the small amount of 8 speed problems I have read about I am happy my truck has one over the 6L80E/6L90E..... I hated that transmission when I first drove one back in 07 and after driving a 2015 5.3 3.42 geared rental truck with one still hate it today lol. Tuning makes them okay but it's retarded you have to tune something because after this long GM still can't.

It sucks to have issues but like with anything it's luck of the draw. I mean reading this forum you would think they all vibrate..... well I haven't come across one yet that does or anyone local complaining of it either so...... lol.

My dealer claims that my truck is the only one they've handled that makes the popping sound & vibrates ???
