Silverado afm issues

Looking at possible purchase of Silverado 07-13. Would like to find one with 6.0 vortec max or 6.2 what year did they stop the vortec max and start the 6.2? Was the 6.2 available in extendeded cab? Also ive read about afm issues what years was this an issue? And if previous owner didn't have afm disabled but when I buy it I would get a tuner to disable it is that a good idea or is the damage already done? Any other huge issues with these trucks?

2010 I think was the first year for 6.2 max trailer. 6.2 was available on extended and crew cab. 6.2 is non-afm, the 6.0 Vortec Max was afm.

09 was the last year for the Vortec Max badged L76 6 liter trucks and the only year they had the 6L80E and 3.73 gears as the only choice. Previously they were the 4L70E and either 3.73 or 4.10.

Any of those L76 have afm and it's the same junk they used in th 5.3's and they suffer the same problems. You can just Google that to see for yourself lol.

2009 was also the first year you could get the 6.2 in the regular trucks but only as an SLT or LTZ and only as a crew cab. From 2010 to 2013 you could get the 6.2 in the SLE/SLTand LT/LTZ trim trucks as well as being able to get them as an extended cab as well as a crew cab.

Disabling AFM with a Tuner doesn't keep the lifters from falling apart.... which honestly is an issue with the non afm engines too... the so called "LS7" lifters are noisy rubbish lol.... but they just don't fail as often as the afm ones do.

I would get the 6.2 truck and avoid all the potential afm problems...

My friend had an 09 All Terrain with L76, 6L80E, and 3.42 gearing

I guess I should mention the 09 6.2 trucks had only 3.42 gears behind them as well... like the Denali's. The NHT package was specific to the L76.
