Retrofit 2016 HID headlights to 2015

Probably..On the chevy it looks like you would need to replace the bumper assy, grille, hood and possibly the fenders (although they "look" the same). Probably some brackets as well behind the grille and bumper. GMC looks more like a possibility just by studying the pics of both side by side, looks like only the lamps would need replacement.

This is based off of looking at the 1500's so I assume you are referring to the GMC..

If you are talking GMC HD, GM does not support upfitting of factory HID lighting. Also, the lamps are to the tune of $1300-$1400 EACH. Chevy HD still uses halogen projectors for 2016 and the 1500 front end is entirely different.

Talking GMC. They didn't support upfitting of the new tow mirrors either and yet hundreds have been successfully done.

But they do support the tow mirrors now (for a few months to be specific) as GM sells kits and door harnesses to do it all. GM to my knowledge has never supported a factory halogen to factory HID swap. There can be differences in the BCM, body and headlight wiring and much more to permit it.

The mounting points look similar. However, I would want to verify that the main plug to the harness will work and most likely it will not......just do an fxr or rx350 retrofit if you are looking for increased performance

Anyone know if we can retrofit the factory 2016 HIDs to 2015 2500s?

I thought about this as well being that the 2500 still use what looks like the same assembly as the 14 and 15 1500's. It appears according to the GMC website that they just stuck an HID bulb in the original housing and added the necessary ballasts and igniters to power the new bulb and everything else is the same from the previous year. I'm curious if they replaced the projector to better match an hid and improve the lighting and if this new bulb has a true d2s or d4s base and not the original 9012. My guess is they still use the same crappy projector and made small adjustments to match the focal point of the new HID burners and you would still get better performance from an fx or rx projector retrofit.
