GM forgot about something when implementing Apple Carplay

No outside temperature display while carplay is active. Clock is there, thermometer is not.

 

Just a minor annoyance, but noticeable nonetheless. One wonders the reason for the omission.

 

It has actually been interesting for me to follow the thermometer's movement over the years. It was in the mirror on my 2002 Sierra, then in the DIC for my '09, and now in the intellink screen for my latest truck. Not sure why it keeps jumping around.

CarPlay is just a mirroring application. Apple specifies what is displayed when CarPlay is active, and nothing else. GM put the temp on the display, and CarPlay overrides that when active.

I noticed the same thing. I prefer CarPlay for navigation but really miss the temperature. I hope a future software upgrade will fix it. It is still head and shoulders better then the slow and sluggish head unit in my 2014 SLT.
