Other Daily Driver

For those of you that don't use your Silverado as a daily driver, what are you driving? I have a Sonata that I drive to work and use my truck to pull our 30' travel trailer and to drive on the weekend. The Sonata's lease is up soon so I'm trying to decide if I should drive the truck everyday or get something else to take to work. Just wondering what else people are driving in addition to their trucks.

They cost too damn much to have another vehicle!! My wife did just get a 2016 lexus gx460 so maybe that is the one that costs too much! I have had a "daily" before and still consider one sometimes but they rarely save you any money. Extra insurance maintenance regestration etc.

I drive mine everyday and love it 99% of the time. Other times, such as when it's late or dark out, it's a little more annoying (to people around me) cause the trucks loud. But I still love driving my truck everywhere. If I'm not driving my truck there's a work truck I usually drive but nothing beats driving your baby.

I own 4 running and driving trucks but the only one registered privately in my name is an 86 Blazer that I honestly wouldn't want to daily lol. My real daily is my 15 Silverado and I use it for everything... my back up is my 2005 1500HD GMC.

I drive a Prius V to work in the city, 80ish miles a day. I would love to drive the truck but the gas savings alone pays for all of the car expenses.

I really want to hate driving it, but I don't. It gets amazing gas mileage, fits three bags of hockey gear in the back and saves my truck from being beaten on daily. At half the price of the truck, I don't mind that one bit.

Back when I drove Corvettes, I had what i called "the Corvette saver". Over the years it was everything from an older Corvette to beater pickups to brand new pickups. Never, EVER drove my Corvettes in the rain, snow, or when it even looked like it was gonna rain. Since having grand kids to haul around now, my Corvette days are over and life is much, much simpler.

The "other" car will be shared with my teenage daughter at least she will learn to drive in it. She's not learning to drive in my truck!! We are getting my wife a Traverse soon as her lease is also up and car is also too expensive for a teenager to learn in. I thought about a Prius, (my commute is 67 miles round trip) but its still somewhat expensive for a teenager to drive on occasion and the dash drives me insane, sooooo ugly! The new Volt looks nice, but charging sounds like a PITA. Any other ideas?

You plug it in at night at home (5 seconds of time) not sure where the PITA is. If you drive more miles than the battery can hold it runs on gas and then you plug it in at night. Quite the opposite of PITA, probably spend less combined time plugging it in each night than the amount of time having to fill up at a gas station each time. Pretty impressed with the new volts.

Buy your daughter a reliable used car that fits what you want her to drive. Just drive the truck, never understood picking up another car payment and everything that comes with it just to save some gas (those costs easily off set that) unless it is a very cheap older beater.

I myself split truck time with a Kawasaki Vulcan Nomad 1600 on nice days.

Used car is probably the way to go, I've just gotten used to warranties etc. It's not about saving money (its definitely more expensive). I'd rather not beat up the truck and don't want a teenager driving 40K+ vehicles.
