4 wheel drive "Auto" setting

I washed the underbody real well.

It's just a slight vibration, after 50 it's perfectly smooth. Didn't know of that 40-50 range was just the Auto engaging or something.

I just thinking if it was a snow or salt on the driveline or wheels, I would feel it on 2wd as well.

On a side note....it does one hell of a launch from a traffic light in AUTO! Just floor it and go [emoji16]

Especially when it's raining [emoji23][emoji109]

Had a single cab the other day rev his engine at me during a rainy day (it was pouring here in SoCal)

I noticed his truck didn't have the 4x4 setting so I switched to AWD. Smoked his ass off the line. It wasn't even a challenge. Ha. He asked me to pull over at a gas station and asked me what I had under the hood. Told him a stock 5.3 with AWD [emoji23]

Needless to say he was impressed. Said he was gonna trade it in for a AWD Model haha.

I have the worst stock tires(continentals) and i use Auto in the rain at intersections quite a lot.

I left my truck in 4 auto after rain storm/ dirt road and then preceded to drive 300 miles on dry pavement. Not see or notice any mpg change.

It's not easy to tell its still on while driving. Some slight vibrAtions is about it.

I should be worried then I drove my fwd passat through a torrential down pour in florida. Maybe I'll get the awd bmw next since you need 4wd in rain

You should be more worried about your terrible grammar and less about how I use MY vehicle.

I just don't understand why anyone uses 4wd when they are driving in the rain. Sure if you get stuck and need to get out

So in a effort to confirm my original issue, you do indeed experience more vibrations in Auto 4WD or 4 Hi?

The vibe is slight. nothing I stressed over. Just feels like front drive train components working. It's prolly characteristic of the truck. I love the option. Really enjoy auto 4wd on twisty roads under the shady redwoods which make it slick as owl shit.

You do know 4wd wont really help you from sliding sideways....

So your saying if I break traction I'm toast?

Ive noticed when trucks back end gets light/ breaking traction, the 4wd kicks in and helps somewhat. Or at least I ain't in the ditch yet.

Throttle control. Situational awareness. They can do a lot. I guess there is more than one way to skin the cat

Came across this topic on a google search and found a lot of good info so figured I'd join the forum. My wife and I purchased a 16 Yukon Denali  in Nov 15. We were upgrading from a Terrain AWD. i myself am mostly a german car guy and my wife was Ford but we loved the terrain and it served us well so we stayed with GM when we needed something larger for the kids. One of  the big selling points the dealer was making to us is this "Auto" mode. They pitched the whole "you just leave in auto mode at all times and it will engage when needed". We live on east coast in MD and dont see much snow but do get it as well ice throughout the winter. So we left in auto mode.....6 months later we were on our way down 95 heading to South Carolina for vacation and the truck got stuck in 4wd while in auto mode. took to dealer, they said they reset the Transmission Control Module (TCM) as fix but to mention to our dealer when we got home to do a look over. well after we got home, the dealer said just mention it to us next time its in for service it sounds fine. then it got stuck in 4wd again so we took in, they preformed same fix and told us this was a known problem and not to use Auto mode ever again. havent used it since and haven't had any more problems with 4wd engaging. although i have had numerous other transmission problems and parts replaced. we havent even hit 2 years yet and barely 30k and truck has been in shop 7 times for transmission related issues as well lost the ability to use Auto mode (per our dealer) without expected problems.

Anyone else experienced anything like this?
