I'm sure this will be a stupid question but why are you guys removing the cats? I don't see them as flow restrictors. Sound? They pay $60 each at the scrap dealer? I am curious

Third cats are not monitored by any sensors so they are dead weight and slow exhaust flow a bit. Maybe sound is increased a little but i didn't notice any when i removed mine.

I got rid of my only cat...life is much better now. The dog sleeps better at night and the kids don't get random scratches anymore either. I highly recommend this mod for anyone with cats.

Had mine removed on my 2012 truck and never a warranty issue except possibly an exhaust warranty if I had ever had one (NO), I took it in and had 4 motor mounts replaced under warranty, took it in at 87K+ miles and had a complete rebuild done on my transmission covered under warranty. Never had any other problems other than a shock was leaking and they also replaced it under warranty.

I had a programmer installed, true dual exhaust without 3rd cat and resonator and never a warranty issue. I am not saying its not possible just not on my end so far. I did not have my new trucks cat removed but I also have not had it true dueled yet either.

Took mine out last week, I already had a straight pipe after the 3rd cat, found out it wasn't monitored. The exhaust got louder and deeper, quite happy with it. Now, anyone want to buy a 3rd useless cat for their truck?

What happens if you cut off the 3rd cat and drove with it just like that?
