Door unlock issue? Key fob locks wth?

Hello thanks for reading my post

I have a 2003 GMC 2500 HD crew 6.6 Duramax full SLT package. Ever since I had this truck there's been an ongoing issue with the key fob. I don't actually believe it's the key fob because I have reset the key fob two different ways one with the general instructions, and the other manually removing it with a scan tool from the computer and resetting it.

I can repeat this issue very easily, upon stopping and getting out of my truck I will lock the door with the key fob. If I try to immediately unlock the truck or within a few minutes the key fob works as it should. Unfortunately when I leave the truck going into the store lumber yard etc the key fob will not unlock the truck, but if I insert the key in the driver side door and unlock the truck the key fob works again.

I can only assume that there is a timeout that is happening in the computer that it is not waking up from until a manual unlock. Am I going crazy or is there some time out that could be reached causing this issue? I have to assume that it's some technical piece of information I don't have at hand that is causing the issue. I'm suspecting that one of the Door modules that controls the lock and unlock feature is to blame . If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd be most appreciative.

Thank you again for reading this and hopefully someone will have a suggestion on where to start.

Could just be a sticky door lock solenoid. If you hit the unlock button while sitting in the truck, will the doors unlock? Might lock easy, but struggle to unlock. I've seen that happen quite a few times. Could try removing the door panel lubing up all the linkages, and any moving / sliding parts, if that's what the issue is.

Unfortunately everything seems to be working perfectly except for the issue stated. I have one sticky window motor but that's about it. I can lock and unlock with the key fob as well. There is no hesitation with the unlock function, it's literally after a time lapses after being locked with the key fob. I have a feeling its something to do with the security system and/or one of the control Modules.

Thank you for the response!

PS

I replace the window motor about a year ago and sprayed the entire door cavity with lube when I was in there.

Probably a dumb question but have you replaced the fob battery?

I did, even bought a second key fob to try that route. But no change.

Please keep us updated on your progress into this repair. I have the same issue. I can lock the truck with the key fob all day long but it just won't unlock. When I first bought the truck I could occasionally get it to unlock but the last several months it acts as though it's not receiving the signal or something. Again, it'll lock with no issue.

I recall the fob on our '00 Jimmy (that's now in the back yard parted out) had a bad solder inside the little board inside, which prevented the battery from making full contact. It worked intermittently, then completely failed. After I found the issue and soldered the battery connection back to the board, it worked flawlessly ... until the BCM took a dump.
