gmckenzie Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 I've got a Lexar 64g stick (USB3) for my music and twice now, in the morning, the truck wouldn't read it. First time it read it fine in the afternoon. Second time is today so I haven't gone home yet, but will try it again in a couple of hours. I tried shutting the truck and radio off this morning (opened the door as well) and restarting the truck and it still wouldn't read the stick. Also tried it in all the usb slots (including the one in the glove box. No go. Stick works fine in my work laptop. Have had the truck since August and have been using this stick since I bought it. First issue was last week and then again this morning. Anyone else have these kind of issues? Thanks.
Mack207 Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 There is a GM Bulletin about this I believe. If you removed the USB while the truck was off, the truck will not read from any of the USB slots. You have to insert the original USB back into the original slot it was removed from when the truck was off, then start the truck. I had this happen the first week I had mine and it took a lot of searching to get it fixed.

gmckenzie Posted February 16, 2016 Author Posted February 16, 2016 It hasn't happened since, but no I didn't remove the stick. Came home and it worked fine. Left it where it was and it didn't work the next morning.
Ron.s Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 My USB works fine....reads and plays from playlists. But my iPod nano locks up after playing. It works once for hours but turn off my truck and its locked. This is another new system and may have some bugs.
crewl1 Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 The only issue I have with the USB stick is the truck forgets where it left off and starts playing using first artist or song in the entire stick. Happens after I leave the truck shut off for a while. Haven't figured out a pattern of why or what combo of menu settings this occurs under. I have been using the console plug but will try the front plugs to see if it has to do with RAP shutoff not keeping the stick 'alive'.
Podsy Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 Just a little information for you guys. I had bought a brand new 128gb stick and loaded the stick up with music. I used it for a month without issue and then all of the sudden I was experiencing the same issues. Got in the truck and it would say no media found. I could unplug the stick and plug it back in and sometimes it would find it and other times it wouldn't. I had two usb sticks plugged in and it wouldn't find either of them. The second one was a 16 Gb stick. After bringing the stick in and looking at it on the computer I found that there was a file that was written to the stick. (You might have to change your computer settings to show hidden folders to see the file.) I would have to guess that something happened in my truck where it wrote a rogue file to the USB stick which was causing the issue. It actually broke the USB stick so I had to call PNY and have them send me a new stick. I took my 16Gb stick and plugged that stick back in and everything has worked as planned. I have not had any issues with it not seeing the stick or not playing where I left off. The only issue I do see now from time to time is it will just repeat one song. I have to hit browse and it will take a few seconds for the list to populate and then I just choose a different song and then it will play like it should. That is very rare for me to have to do this. I hope this helps you guys. Unfortunately I cant give you the name of the file that was written as after I saw the file it corrupted the whole drive. You will see the file doesn't look like the others as it is written in Linux. If you are using a usb stick you are more than likely using a windows operating system to load that stick up.
