Have a 2014 Sierra and the AC has decided it doesnt want to cool anymore. Im waiting on the dealership to call me back, but my truck is the 3rd one that was a 2014 that had this issue among people I know. Is this a known common issue by GMC? Both were the condenser..one was under 36K mileage so dealership took care of it, the other guy had 50K and had to fight with GMC and still had to come out of pocket a couple hundred. I have 41K on my truck...wondering if I should start planning for the fight.

I had this same problem. There is a design flaw in how the refrigerant hose connects to the compressor. Mine broke twice within 3 months of taking delivery. The last time it was fixed they added a bracket to brace the hose and it's been fine for over a year now.

Here is more information on the fix that was performed on my truck which solved my problem: http://sandyblogs.com/techlink/?p=3816

This problem was addressed before. GM saved $ 1 per vehicle on a bracket, which if used, would not allow the high pressure hose to vibrate. Keep in mind that as A/C compressor compresses the refrigerant gas, it goes under high pressure (around 300 psi) to the condenser inlet, where it is liquefied.

Fittings on a 300 psi hose that is free to vibrate will not last very long.

Hmm, how common is this? I've not heard of it before. ..

If you have a '14 or '15 without the bracket installed it's only a matter of time before it fails. Mine failed about 9 weeks after delivery and was fixed without the bracket. It failed again about 2 weeks later and the dealer then researched the problem and found there was a PI addressing this and they installed the bracket. I've had no problems for the past year since the bracket was installed.
