2014 Silverado 1500 auxillary battery

Okay, so I'm going to add an auxillary battery to my 2014 Silverado 1500 crew. I just purchased a 30" light bar behind the grille kit and am slowly piecing together my sound system. I will be running a 1500.1 amp for my 4 kicker L7 8's and a Kenwood excel in 450 watt amp for my Kenwood xr1800p in front, xr1800 rear.

My question is, what size battery will fit in the auxillary battery tray. Ive already purchased the battery wedge and bolt and will be buying a PAC 200 isolator to keep the charge seperate.

I would like to add the most powerful battery possible. I prefer xs power and kinetic batteries however, I would like a basic bolt in install. Any and all help/ assistance is welcome.

If this has been done before, please point me in the right direction. I intend to do a write up after my install is done.

Thanks guys

Find out what the autoparts shop has that fits a 2500 Duramax -- they are all equipped with dual batteries.

Okay, so here is what I got so far. A Stinger 200 amp isolator, 2 200 amp circuit breakers(I hate fuses), 1/0 guage wire with crimps and the battery hold down and bolt.

Now my next and final question is , what size battery goes here. I noticed the starting battery on the trucks is smaller than that of my old 2003/2005 and 2011. Is it a group 78 battery that goes in the tray????

I really want to stick with xs or stinger but I don't know if those are compatible with the tray set up. If anyone knows please let me know. I don't want to have to do any modsbas far as battery hold down.

I know an optima would fit but they seem over priced compared to the performance of others

So I ordered a XS power D3400 today with flat mount 6 point terminals. XS says it is a direct bolt in. I'll post pics of install when it's all 10-8.

Am I missing something with the new 2016 trucks and the aux battery tray? There seems to be a different hold down system than my 2008. I don't see the nut for the rubber/plastic block to thread in or the grabbing "lips" or whatever they're called that pinch the other side of the battery in when you tighten the block. Do I have to buy a separate tray or what?

Sir Dan did you ever find out how to tie down your second battery, I also noticed that my 2016 doesn't have a threaded nut anywhere for the rubber hold down. Didn't know if this was different in the 2016's or not.

Have a look at a new Duramax and see how GM is doing it now. (all Dmax's have dual batteries)

Did you ever figure this out? I went to install my 2nd battery tonight and ran into the same problem.

I just gave up on the dual batts for now. There is no GM made battery tray that will fit into that area on the newer trucks, Its only there to support the engine computer. Some guys have improvised and modified trays that work fine. Lots of posts out there.
