Every time we open any door the dashboard & door panels light up for about 6 seconds then shuts off. How do I disable that illumination?

Every time we open any door the dashboard & door panels light up for about 6 seconds then shuts off. How do I disable that illumination?

What year and model do you have? Is it any time? Day or night, inside the garage or outside? Mine will come on with auto headlights in my garage, but not outside. I have not seen or heard of this one before.

Looked in my online 2014 Silverado OM...nothing about this...

I have two 2014 1500 2WT Silverados with custom stake beds. I know how to turn off the dome lamps and adjust the instrument panel brightness but can not figure out why everything else illuminates all over when the doors open. The odometer/speedo, radio & climate controls, info screen, and door panel switches all light up then turn off after 10 seconds every time a door is opened. Actually, the radio & climate controls and the information screen stay light until the door is closed.

On the stereo settings you can adjust how long the lights stay on but I'm not sure about turning off the little screen on the dash or the radio screen when you open the doors. I don't think you can.

Just went out in the garage and tried this I have an LTZ with large radio/Nav screen and up level DIC. When I open the drivers door, both screens illuminate with the MyLink splash screen. The door switches, radio/HVAC knobs illuminate along with ceiling lights. When I open the passenger door, only the ceiling lights come on. I don't think this can be changed.

 

Now, if I lock the truck, then unlock, the headlights, tail lights and puddle lights come on in addition to the dash lights. This can be changed along with the duration.
