modifing a 5.3 vortec into a ecotech can it be done?

I HAVE A 2013 SIERRA 1500 WITH THE 5.3 VORTECH, WHAT WOULD NEED TO BE DONE TO GAIN THE 40HP THAT THE ECOTECH HAS ? NEW HEADS ? TWEEK THE COMPUTER ?

I KNOW IF I TRADE UP I'M GOING TO TAKE A BATH ON MY TRUCK.

 

ANYONE KNOW IF I COULD HAVE THIS DONE ?..........BUT ONLY IF IT COSTS AN ARM OR A LEG, not both

Cant be done. You can alter ot with cam/heads and tune to get 40 HP out of it

What can be done.........Have the 5.3L removed and install the 6.2L Vortec from the same year.

You can do other mods to get 40 hp but, this ain't one of 'em jack.

Simply put, it can't be done. Different fuel pump, different long block. Make your 40 hp somewhere else.

 

If you were to swap the entire engine, you'd come out ahead to just trade in and buy one

It cracks me up when people want more power but don't want to pay 30 cents more for fuel. Good tune on 91 will feel like 40 hp.

You're asking about "converting" an engine but can't expense 91 octane? What a joke.
