If you are going to keep it, maybe tow with it I would buy a long block from GM. More money but I believe better warranty and quality.

GM as in buy from the dealership?

 

You could also take a look at any of the GM built engines available online as well. Most of the well known online performance parts sites sell GM built engines. Dealers will also sell rebuilt engines, that may or may not actually be done by GM. No idea if GM farms this out or not, but Chrysler used to (and maybe still does) contract their engine building/re-building out to Cummins OER. That included the complete crate engine product line as well

Plenty of engine builders out there that do it right. Jasper comes to mind. When a company does nothing but build engines day in and day out, you can be confident you're getting the best engine you can buy.

 

Since mine started burning oil at 50k miles, GM would be the last place I'd buy from. Bet it's a ripoff too ...

A dealer may be closer if there are problems.
