I need Advice

Guys, I don't know what to do. I bought my 2015 about two months ago. It was one of there loaners that had 2200 miles on it, so I got a great deal. Well, I noticed the vibrations right away, but I haven't had a truck in years and just thought it was common road noise for a truck. I also had my passenger seat rattling like crazy when I went over bumps. So, I can to this forum for that issue, and eventually discovered the vibration thread. I haven't had time to get to the dealer until this past week. I printed off the vibration bulletin, and took her in. Well, they called this morning and said that the passenger seat looked like it had been bent, and that my vibration was due to a bent driveshaft!!!

I did not bend my seat or the driveshaft! So, I took the truck from that dealer back to the dealership I bought it from and told them everything...including the fact that these things must have been done to the loaner before I bought it.

They are looking at it now as I type this. I am really afraid that I am going to get screwed here, because I haven't done anything at all to my truck, but I also can't prove that it was done prior either. I am just sick about this.

Before you panic, give your dealer a chance to look at the truck and tell you what they intend to do.

On a side note, what you described is why I do not buy demo/loaner vehicles.

I agree with muddkatt, let them take a look at it and see what they say before you start stressing about it.

Well, after sitting for several hours, they told me they wanted their best mechanic to look at it when he got back, so they gave me a loaner and sent me home. I don't understand why it is taking so long to look under the truck. I mean the other dealer showed me where it was bent.

I am really nervous. I love this truck, but I did not damage it. I went against my better judgment and got the demo because it was such a good deal, but I know someone who had it during those first 2200 miles did this. If they deny the service, I guess I am screwed. If that does happen, am I in any danger driving it with the driveshaft bent? I can't afford to have it fixed myself. I can live with the vibration if it doesn't put me in any danger.

Just makes me sick, though.

Driveshaft being bent will eventually cause other problems besides the vibration. It will be a lot cheaper to replace the shaft, than to repair the transmission output shaft or the pinion gear and bearing.

Give them time to look at the truck. I am 99% sure that they will take good care of you.

They assigned your truck to the technician that they thought was the best for that issue. He might have been tied up with another customers truck, out sick, took the day off to finish his taxes, or any number of reasons. They put you in a loaner, so they are trying to accommodate you.

Just don't bend the driveshaft on the loaner..... :D

Bent or Dent???? Big difference between a dent in the hollow shaft which should not change the geometry of the shaft and bent which would mean it is no longer a straight shaft and if the latter the vibration would be so bad it would bounce your head off the roof if you forgot to fasten your seat belt. A dent in of itself is not critical provided the shaft is re-balanced.

A bent seat also? Seems someone had a lot of off road fun with that "loaner".....that is why one owner used cars are preferred.......I know from first hand experience that loaners in the hands of pissed off customers have the crap kicked out of them......often they are not merely used they are ab-used.

A vehicle can be destroyed in less than 100 miles and that goes for vehicles used for test drives. I never buy a new vehicle with over 20 miles on the odometer

I think you have nothing to worry about. Sadly, the dealer that sold you the truck may have been aware of the issue before you bought it. I think either way, you will be covered. You bought it with 2200 miles, how many does it have now?

I have an update, guys. Very strange turn of events. When the other dealer showed me where the driveshaft was bent, it was on a lift. Well, the dealer that I bought it from called me down today, lowered the lift and showed me where it was "bent." There is no bend. It was a scuff mark! The dealer said they have had problems before with my local dealer not wanting to work on vehicles that were purchased from them (dealers are about 60 miles away from each other.) Guess what else? Seat rails are not bent either. Said there was a bulletin on the seat issue, and they will fix her right up.

After all of this, the tech and I went on a drive for the vibration. He felt it too, I gave him the bulletin on it, and he is going to get to work on it soon (they were already booked up, but squeezed me in because of the "bent" driveshaft.) So, for now anyway, I am feeling much better, but pissed at the other dealership.

See, they are going to do everything in their power to make you happy.

Dealers turning away warranty work on vehicles from other dealerships is pretty much a common practice. If it were me, I would be calling that first dealership after you get your invoice and asking what they missed. That is BS customer service.

    • New to diesel trucks. I happened to find my oil cooler leaking oil externally with only 4,000 miles on the truck. I didn’t realize this was an issue until I started researching it. Dealer is going to replace it under warranty but I’m wondering if there’s anything GM is working on to fix this issue. I’ve heard the oil filter used is the same as they use on their V6 motors and that’s what is causing the problems. Should I switch to a bigger filter or keep using the OEM recommended?
    • So, GMCustomerService:  Judging by the Update History pictured above, is this truck missing any updates that it actually needs. If it's just for the infotainment system, the radio is working fine and no trouble with SeriusXM. and Android Auto is working fine wirelessly with my phone. Some months ago, an update notice was sent to my truck. I approved the update and it finished saying that the update was successful, but it seems that whatever that update was, it didn't actually get installed - at least not if I'm to go by the Update History shown above.   So, again, are there any updates that this truck really should have? I've checked with my dealer but they're reluctant or commit to anything and if I want them to check, they require a $200.00 fee just to check it out and then I'd have to pay for the actual update(s).    Ignorance is bliss, and if none of the updates goes to fixing any mechanical discrepancies, I'll just leave things as is.
    • Hey everyone, I recently had an issue with my 07 2500HD GMT900. My DRL’s stay on at all times. Right front turn and right mirror turn signal indicator stay on solid at all times. By “at all times” I mean the only way to make them go off is disconnecting the battery. I tore the headlight assemblies out, tried disconnecting the harnesses to eliminate bad wiring at the harness, I unplugged the headlight switch, no change and the mirror turn signal still stayed on. My first thoughts were : Bad bulb and/or socket somewhere, under hood fuse panel bad, bcm bad, tail light or trailer wiring problem, or some random short to power in the harness.  Possibly a bad ground but unlikely. I had a big clue in the fuse panel, it had a burnt smell. I started pulling every fuse that had to do with DRL or right turn/park lamp. Nothing made the right directional turn off but pulling the DRL2 fuse made the DRL’s go out.  After studying wiring diagrams, I found that both problems had that fuse panel in common, the bcm also controls both problems but knowing the fuse panel had a burnt smell I removed and disassembled the fuse panel and found a little corrosion on the printed circuit board.  I ordered a new fuse panel from Amazon for like $260. When it arrived I installed it, and put everything back together, the problem was fixed. I figured the fuse panel needed to be replaced anyway so that was a logical place to start. Hopefully this story helps someone in the future. Regretfully I didn’t scan for codes before I did everything.
    • That stinks. I’m sitting on the side of the road right now with the same issue. Never had an issue before taking it in for the ground strap recall. Now I’m outside of warranty and they’ll probably want $200 just to diagnose what they already “fixed”.
