Special Ordered Trucks?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if there's a way to check on the status of a special ordered truck without hounding the dealership for information?

The dealer has an order number that they have to give you. You can then get on chevy.com, click on support, click on chat. Under the chat options pick track your order. Than you'll have to put your name, and phone number. After that you just give the chat tech your order number, and they will tell you when your vehicle will be produced at the factory.

There is a forum somewhere too where a chevy salesperson tracks orders for people but I don't remember it.

When I ordered mine found usingnchevy chat was actually more up to date and easier than the dealer. I usually knew the different stages of the build and when my truck was delivered before the dealership would even call me.

Ya - Chevy Chat is the way to go. I was also more in the loop than my dealer at least on the front half of the build process.

As a matter of fact I messed with my salesman the day he called me to tell me my TPW. I already knew because of Chevy chat and GMCInsider.

He said, I am calling to update you. I said let me guess I have a TPW of 3/21. He said how did you know, did Chuck (his boss) already call you? I said nope. I just have a crystal ball.

Then I told him about Chevy Chat. He didn't know you could get that info from them, at least without an Order number. Then I refreshed his memory that I had to Sign my Build Order (Which I had a fax copy of) and it had my order number on it.

Also if you open a chat with the right person, some are more helpful than others. My 2nd chat "Sarah" offered to send me a weekly update. This was late in the process. My truck ended getting built a week earlier than my TPW. I was already headed to the rail yard in Mexico when it wasn't even suppose to be built. So I only got one email update. But it was a nice offer and helpful.

I got my order number and did the chat. My build date is the week of 6/6. The wait continues

You do know you are loosing Carplay & AA with that order?

What makes you say that? It's a dealer software upgrade

Hey, thanks for the heads up with this. I called chevy directly and it turns out only trucks without navigation will loose the carplay/android auto. Luckily I ordered mine with the nav.
