Rear air lift / Helper bags

has anyone put in an adjustable airbag set up in a 4x4 on here yet?

I want to put in my 2.5" RC leveling kit but i load a lot of sportbikes in the back of my truck so making it 2" taller will just make it that much more difficult.

so im thinking of installing the 2.5" RC in the front and adding helper bags in the rear, bump up the PSI to level it out but when loading bikes air down to go back to stock height.

anyone think this will work?

I did 2 inch levelling in front and it is enough. ...2 and half will be just more tall in front.....

My levelling is problem for me when I tow my cargo trailer. ...the rear of my truck drop 2 inch...it is not much but because levelling my truck seem overweight lol....I plan installing air lift system too but still don't know which one choosing......

I have the same problem as you concerning levelling

And yes it will work....just need a good setup....don't install cheap things

Air bags work great. you have to play around with the air pressure but yea you could load ur bikes up and then add air to make the truck level again no problems

What does that do to the ride when unloaded? Is it harsher if bags are added and only filled when towing?

Not harsher when unloaded you are in total control. let air out to get your factory ride back and add air to take the sag off of the leaf springs

That's what i was hoping to hear. I'm in a half ton now after trading in my 3500 (wanted a nicer ride) but my 4-place trailer squats my truck more than what I would like. How much is a decent bag setup and any recommendations on brand?

They work very well for what your needing. We put a set of Firestone air bags on my sons 2011 4x4 Silverado for that very same reason to carry a heavy atv and it works. The ride wont be harsh IMO. I cant tell the difference he keeps about 10 lbs of air in there unloaded and bumps it up when he is loaded. There easy to install all bolt on hardware. You have to keep a minimum of 5lbs in the Firestone bags per there instructions.

with the 10 lbs unloded, is he higher than stock in the rear?

i want to always keep the factory rake in the truck so even 2" in the front plus bump up the air pressure in the rear when unloaded to lift the rear equally (or close to it)

then when loaded bump it up even more.

i was looking at the firestone setups, they are sub $500 which isnt bad.

im going to be putting 33"s on to fill the wheel wells (keeping the stock 17s on it...may powdercoat them)so im already going to be a bit taller than stock which is not ideal for all situations but whatever..and most likely a LT tire since she sees some tough terrain up at the cottage (hunt trails that are for ATV's, small rocks...etc..)

she also pulls a 19 or 20 ft fiberglass boat a little, so airing up for that would be nice too.

i mean unloaded is unloaded its not gonna really lift the rear unloaded unless you put a ton of air in them. how ever it looks unloaded with no bags is how it will look when there is 10 lbs of air.

Yes you will have some rake with 10lbs air dependent on what you carry payload wise. You can tweak it up or down easily what ever your needs are.

weird, im going to have to take a look at my buddies F150's setup.

he put in a 2" level kit on 35's and the truck unloaded sat nose up so he added rear helper bags to level it out a bit. he airs up more to tow or when the box is full.

maybe he has a lift block in the rear..ill have to check.

I have a 14 5.3 high country. Installed the smart air system which is automatic. Love it, put a load of 2500lbs in it. Leveled out, handled great. Unloaded truck and leveled back to normal.
