Power Step question

The harness you linked does not have the bracket to mount it under the dash (the Amp one mounts right in place directly where the original port was). Still a good price if you don't mind tying the harness up out of the way, I just wanted the factory look so when my truck goes in for service the Techs don't have to do anything different.

The same thing happened to one of mine but the instructions say in big letters DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN BOLTS so I didn't bother to argue with them. Mine didn't crack as much as yours so I used some superglue and re-installed everything. The steps have been opened and closed thousands of times since that and I haven't had any problems yet.

I will still follow this post to see how you make out ...

Oh yeah; I even used a torque wrench to correct spec LOL.

They are sending me two new motors and said I should probably not torque it so much to be safe.

Good to hear. Maybe I'll ask for a new motor!

They have a 5 year warranty so I may just wait and see how it holds up ...

How much does labor cost at a truck accessory store? Trying to decide whether to do it myself or not.

I would think $200-$300 maybe?

It was way to easy to do. I'd never pay anyone knowing now. I told my buddy I'd install his on his 15 as soon as he got them. It is like installing any other running board. The electrical is way too easy as well if you go with the plug and play kit that uses the OBDII port.

Thanks. I'm planning to do it myself. This truck is just too tall for the standard boards!

For those installing these steps did you go with the powerstep or powerstep xl?

Thanks

I installed the regular powersteps on my factory height 16. My wife (and i) love them! Only thing is, ive started hearing a rattle on the passenger side when it drops down, but everything is tight. (Ill make a seperate thread for that)

You only need the regular powerstep unless you have a sizable lift kit on your truck.
