Premature tire wear

If it were me, I would have asked the dealer to apply that credit to a much better tire. My OEM GY's (255/??/20) were junk. They sucked on dry pavement, sucked on ice and sucked in the snow. I just sold them with 10K on them and they were not looking so hot. I think a new set of them runs -$500 installed so take that for what it's worth. GM isn't going to put good tires on there to keep the cost down.

Not all OEM tires are not crap IMHO. On my '99 Dodge/Cummins, I got over 125,000 miles on the OEM Michelin LTX M&S in size LT245/75 16E!!!!

Well Michelin is another story and that was in '99. I don't think any manufacturer is using them for OE tires. LTX's are known to wear like iron.

Also, on my '04.5 Dodge/Cummins, I got 81,000 out of the OEM Michelin LTX AS in size LT265/70 17E. Would've rode them longer, but got a flat in one; and could not see patching a tire with over 80k on it.

This is also the truck that I traded in for my current one in my signature. The Cooper Discoverer AT3's in size LT265/70 17E had almost 87,000 miles on them, and still looked good when I traded her.

I have the same problem with my 2016 Silverado with the Bridgestone. I have 10,400 miles and I had someone look today and they said I have 10k left, if I am lucky. Like others, I have always gone 30k at least on tires. Is there a way to know if there is a guarantee on them or not? I inquired to my brother-in-law who works for Chevy Service...

There's no way that not rotating tire in 16k should mean they are almost worn out. A little cupping on the fronts, at most.

If tires are worn out that soon, that a sorry tire or some horrible alignment issues

I rotate mine every ten thousand miles. So far I have 25k miles and they look good. I had an 02 Corvette Z06. It had a very aggressive alignment with soft tires and there is no rotating tires. At 20k the front tires were showing threads. Scared me when I saw that! I had the alignment changed to match the regular Corvette and never had that problem again.

I got 120,000 miles outta stock Bridgestone Duravis M700 on my 2010.
