Premature tire wear

because anything over 35/37 and this thing rides like a Costco shopping cart with one square wheel.

LMFAO! Ain't that the truth! Tire pressure really makes a difference in the way these things ride. Mine had 40/42psi all the way around when I brought it home. Reduced it to 35/36, and the ride is much better.

I have a 2015 Sierra 4x4 with Bridgestone tires. The dealer has rotated them once during my first 3 oil changes

Bridgestone does have name recognition, but there are other primary factors in premature tire wear. Environmental conditions, your driving style, inflation, and rotation. If these things are drastic, either could cause premature tire wear. If all those things are on point, 16k miles is a little over 150 treadwear, which is sportscar like treadwear.

Rotating the tires will prevent "uneven" wear. If they're all worn out evenly, rotating the tires would have no effect on that.

If the insides/outsides were worn out on them, then rotating would be the answer.

If you aren't that experienced with tires, here's some info:

The air pressure, alignment, and suspension could all cause premature wear. check out this chart, or google "tire wear"

http://www.osceolagarage.com/tire-wear-problems-make-sure-your-tires-are-ready-for-a-long-summer-trip/

But lack of tire rotation wouldn't cause faster wear, that would only make the front and back wear differently. Are you doing burnouts or not? If you are driving normally, there is something else wrong with either the tires or the truck. First, figure out if all 4 tires have the same issues or if the front/back, left/right have different wear.

If those tires actually are junk, then the dealer should take care of you.

Like people are saying, there are a number of factors that come into play when talking about premature tire wear. We would be better help if you posted some pictures of the tires. I almost don't believe that your tires are worn evenly and are completely shot at 16k miles. either your odometer is broken or someone swapped their old worn out tires for your good tires. I have gotten better mileage off of sport tires on my Camaro.

OEM tires are 100% of the time junk imo, it may have the same brand name and tire model but oem tires are made to the cheapest standards possible. Never ever buy a set of tires from a dealer unless you know for a fact that the brand and model comes on nothing from that manufacture!

Bridgestones by the way are notorious for their softer compounds tires and wear quickly. Most revo dueler reviews have people getting around 30-35k out of a set before needing attention. If you want something that will last a little longer i suggest bfg ko tires or Michelin's , i have gotten 50k+ out of my last around 8 sets of ko's from the last two decades of owning trucks, and no i'm not a paid bfg poster though i should be. :driving:

I have a 2014 Sierra 4 x4 , and have same Bridgestone tires, I have 23,500 miles on truck (38,000 kilometers) I have not bothered with a tire rotation yet. The tires look new, maybe 10 or 15 % wear at most. The original poster of this thread must be aggressive driving or extenuating circumstances eg high heat , low tire pressures

4wd auto and a heavy foot will also wear them out quickly. Towing will reduce life, etc

our roads suck here. I'm at 11k miles and the OEM 20" GY's are half worn. All of the total miles is 95% city driving (lots of stopping and turning). I normally get 15k to 22k out of tires, no matter than brand, tire rotation frequency, or even type of car either me or the wife drives. I have a short commute so I only put on around 6k miles a year, so at least it's not like I'm buying new tires every year....

Update: Truck is at 19k, went to the dealer today, they agreed it was odd... Warranty covers all work involved in mounting, tires are warrantied at 50% of cost, no tax... Total replacement is 360.00

Fyi, no burnouts... Our roads are garbage here... I do tow a camper, but not a ton of miles, maybe 1k worth.

Hopefully the replacements get me through to 39k, lease turn in..

I'm guessing the original tires were the standard size (255/70-17) Dueler H/Ts. From what I've seen, most trucks are coming with 265/70-17 or 265/65-18, and with Bridgestone, those are Dueler A/T RH-S. The A/Ts are a much better tire than the H/Ts, based on what I've seen. My truck came with 255/70-17 Dueler H/Ts, and they wore quickly; new tread depth was only 10/32" and by 14,000 miles tread depth was only 5/32". They wore very evenly, with not more than 1/32" difference in tread depth across all 4 tires at 14,000 miles (measuring the center and outsides of each tire).

OP: I'm glad the dealer took care of the tires under warranty. Are the replacements the same tire that was originally on the truck? Were you given the option to upgrade while receiving warranty credit?

There is no website for OEM tires. OEM tires are not what you buy in store. They are manufactures specifically for the OEM.

What type of driving do you do? What type of surfaces, any gravel?

All the major tire distributors have access to TPC spec tires...

I had a problem with my 06 the tires keept feathering on outer edge. It was so bad I could not even keep them rotated fast enough. After 4 times to dealer they told me they found a tec service bulletin. Put 4 new ones on it, got 60,000+ miles on them. I guess I just got a bad set.
