I have a 2016 midnite edition 5.3. I'm contemplating what I would get more bang for my buck with. K&N intake brand new that I can get for $188 or a programmer to change shift points and firmness etc. I know everyone is a fan of a Blackbear tune but that seems a lot more expensive and will def void warranty. Anyone have any good or bad experiences with hand held programs for the newer Chevrolet?

Any firmware update will void your warranty, its emailed to tech's every week. Flipping it back to stock won't help there is a firmware "counter", you safest bet is just GM CAI and GM exhaust.

 

Jon A, he did a tune & full exhaust write up and it net about 50hp & 50TQ on a 6.2

IMO, K&N is junk. Airaid, tube only with stock filter is good, or green filter/airaid synthetic oil-less filter this way you can keep your stock box.

 

IAT's are important, stick with a fully sealed box, esp when it comes to rain/wetness, unless you start adding other mods & reach for max effort, CAI are pointless.

The GM one is $550 and the other one you suggested is $300. Ive had previous K&N and didnt have any issues.
