Hardwire radar detector in 2016 Sierra

I found a lot of different ways to do this but most of them seemed overly complicated so I thought I would post how I did it.

This will only work if you have power rear sliding window as you can get the accessory power from there.

If you pull down the overhead compartment (open sunglass holder halfway then reach in behind it and pull down) you don't have to go any further. For a negative I used one of the screws that is at the top of the compartment and for power I used the purple with yellow stripe. The hardest part was getting the telephone jack through the headliner at the windshield!

Yeah, I mounted a V1 to the left of the mirror. I took a video but forgot to take a picture of placement (all preference at that point)

I've seen those but I have a few reasons to not want it.

The mirror sits low already so having something below it just covers more of my view. The suction mount (that I had a spare of already) can go up and to the left of the mirror making it less obtrusive and just as accessible. I've had the v1 mounted with that mount in my Z4 for many years with no issues so I'm not worried about it staying.

Second point is the price. If I thought it would be better (the mirror wasn't already so low) I would consider it but $100 for a mount is a little extreme even if it's made of aluminum.

Having said that I would like to see it in use and know your feedback and thoughts in this truck.

I just pulled the trigger and order mine. After looking around, they offer 2 different mounts for our trucks. One of them has a LOT of adjustments so it "should" allow me to get the best fit and placement. It was the one for 98 bucks. They also offer more of a standard mount for 50 dollars, but you have to order it through a 3rd party. I bought the expensive one.....got to explain why it was worth more to the Mrs. I will post pictures once it arrives and I install everything.

Well, I placed the order at 2:22PM Pacific Time, got an email at 2:31 PM Pacific time showing it has shipped and gave a tracking number. Just checked the tracking number and it was picked up at 3:16PM Pacific time and will be here in sunny Florida this Saturday.

The mount arrived a day early so I decided to go ahead and install it. There is a left and right shim that needs to be removed before installing the mount. the shim allows for smaller mirror stems, the trucks use the larger stem. Installation was pretty painless, the mount was up in under 10 minutes. Then I got real anal and HAD to notch the mirror wire cover so that I could hide the wire. That took about 30 minutes. this included finding and hooking up the dremel tool. Once it was mounted, I ran the wires and hooked them up like this:

You used the supplied hardware kit or vampire taps as in the description you posted? How hard was tucking the wires? I am always weary of taking off the A piller, bad prior experience.
