Keys banging on steering column

Tire of hearing the keys banging the column? Go to any box store and get the pads for chair legs to keep them from scratching the floor. The come in black and brown which matched the coco dune interior perfectly (thats what I have). They are self stick and come in a nice round size or strips that work great. Mine have been on for 6 months and have not let loose. No more banging and for under $5 it's cheap too. I used the round one that's about the size of a 1/2 dollar coin.

Why not only have the ignition key in the ignition and the rest in your pocket? I use one of the quick disconnect key rings and just put the ignition key in the truck and leave the rest in my pocket. If I need to get out and leave the truck running, I can lock the doors and go about my business then unlock it and go, don't have to turn the truck off to lock or unlock a gate or where ever I want to go? :jester:

+1

Plus the fact that there have been issues with the cylinder after having many keys hanging on it for a period of time.

I only have the ignition key and the fob. I guess I should have said fob not keys, didn't think of that but that's what's really hitting. I am not a fan of key wads, I don't have to lock my house so I don't need to carry that. So really it's the fob and this stopped the noise.

That is one of my biggest peeves about my truck. HD suspension and keys clanking around drives me nuts. My 1994 and 1996 GM trucks even had a little rubber pad next to the ignition to help with the clanking. I was hoping for keyless ignition on the new HDs but with GM, I knew it was too much to ask....
