Thinking of trading in 2014 Silverado for 2016 a few questions

As the title states thinking of trading my double cab in for a crew for those who have traded up to the 16 style how are the projectors headlights in comparison to the non projectors on my 14? Also how many of you have experienced any of the vibrations or quivering issues on the 16 models compared to the 14-15 years? The final thing is how much should a person be looking to pay to jump two model years and to a crew my truck is LT Z71 with 11,250 miles and I was looking at a new LT Z71 crew cab as well

Have limited experience with my 16, but did have a conversation earlier this week at a gas station with a 14 owner that I had parked next to. He walked up and the first thing he said was how much brighter my headlights were in comparison. Both of our trucks were facing the same wall of the store, and side by side, it was a night and day difference in the amount of illumination.

I just traded my 2014 with projectors for a 2016 with the LED projectors and it's a massive improvement.

Once the headlights and the fogs are on together I can see into the bottom of the ditches on both sides of the road with just the low beams.

On the 2014 I could hardly see the edges of the road.

Other items I've noticed are

Changes to the seat housing were the seat controls are it's flat across now not raised which was pinching the seats and causing the seams to split.

The gap between seats and the center console are wider the passenger seat on the 2014 would rub and make noise.t. The 2016 doesn't even touch now.

CarPlay is a nice addition.

Sunglasses actually fit in the storage in the head rest now.

It shifts better, better throttle response, and for some reason gets slightly better millage.

The payment was lower and I have more options now IE 22 inch rims and the Trailer brake controller.

They removed the BOSE on the 2016 but I can't really tell it still sounds great.

So overall not regrets with the trade for me.

My advise is make sure the numbers back up your feelings:

By that I mean if you had financed and still owe more than it is worth it would be a bad trade financially. Shop with your brain not your heart, no one wants to be left owing 3-5k on old ride and also owe for a new ride. Going from LT to LT does not seem like a big step up. Just me here but I would wait til I could consider an LTZ or SLT. I would also wait til the 2017 were out since it is SO close.

my 2c as always do what make you happiest.

This is not a true statement. I have the Bose system in my 2016 LTZ Z71 4x4 Crew Cab.

I think if you do a little research on this site you will find that the '16 owners are experiencing just about the same issues as the 14-15 owners. I know the radio reception is an on going issue and Car Play isn't 100% functional by any means. If you feel compelled to trade, I would advise waiting until the second generation '17s hit the showroom and then revisit the situation. In the mean time a few bulbs and your lighting problems would be improved. I upgraded my OEM to Putco Nitro Blues and don't have any lighting concerns.

It's not an option on the SLE double cabs anymore it was part of the AT package but no longer is.

So they redesigned the sunglasses holder in the overhead bin?

It is just a little deeper I know my sunglasses didn't fit in the 2014 but the same pair fit in the 2016.

My '15 Silverado vibrated a little and so does the new '16. If I have drinks in the cupholders at 72-75 mph the ice rattle will drive you crazy lol. Some of that is both trucks had the bench seat and the center seat folded down is just kind of hanging there on the hinge so I'm sure amplifies whatever vibrations there is. I just live with it..

I had the non-projectors on the Silverado, they were fine to me, but the '16 LED headlights are some of the brightest headlamps I have ever owned. Downside of the LEDs to me is the sharp cutoff is not that great for winding/hilly roads where I live unless you use high beams. But thats the same as any other HID/projector car/truck I drive around here.

I was lucky and had a friend who wanted the '15 Silverado I had and Laura had the SLT I wanted for 24% off msrp so I stepped up to a better equipped and one model year newer truck for little money.

Got out of my 2014 double cab lt 4x4 z71 and into a 2016 crew cab lt z71 4x4. The 2016 is a night and day difference compared to the 2014. The headlights are amazing, never had problems with the 2014 but I can see everything now. No more vibration, even though I didn't realize how much my 2014 vibrated. This one shifts smooth and doesn't lurch me out of my seat when I punch it. My only regret is not spending the extra money for a LTZ, I like the look of the lights better and would have liked signal mirrors and memory seats. I didn't have a console in the previous one but this one came with one and heated seats, love the extra storage and the seats get hot quick. Plus the tailgate that locks and unlocks is handy. I've had mine for 4 months and 12000 miles and no issues like my 2014. Car Play is a nice feature as well.

Went from a 14 with 30,000 miles on it that I bought new to a 16 that now has 15,000 miles on it that I bought new. The 16 has the 6.2L engine and the 14 had the 5.3. The 16 is significantly quieter, i'm getting much better mileage (dont know that it makes sense but it is), Lights are super bright. I'm very glad that I traded. The only thing that I miss is the 14 had cooled seats and those aren't available on the All Terrain model that I got.

If you money works out right then do it and dont look back. Nobody really talks about there truck being perfect or not having problems that why most topics you read on here are issues with trucks. Dont worry about the negatives, I'd bet those issues aren't as prevalent as they may seem on this forum.

Do 4x4's have different sound systems than 2wd's?

They changed the seats? I have heard they are the same, it probably is just because your old truck was worn in and it pushed out some, this will probably do the same overtime.

Sunglasses in the headrest? You mean the holder in the overhead console? That is nice, I had to widen mine a little.

It was lower but extended, so you are still paying more (unless you put up more upfront and kept the same payoff date, it never works out that simple financially. When someone says I lowered my payments with nothing more than trading in, well yeah, you had say 3 years left now you are back up to 5 with the equity in your old truck applied...

Bose is gone?
