I have a 2015 Silverado 2500HD and was pulling my flatbed trailer for the first time last week that has the 7-pin plug and trailer breakes .I drove it to the local lumber yard with no issues. Then we loaded 22 sheets of 12' sheetrock and started home. The DIC keep flashing Trailer Disconnected and then a couple seconds later Trailer Connected. I pulled over and checked the plug and it was firmly in place. Pulled out again and kept getting the same messages repeating all the way home.

We got to my son-in-laws house and unloaded the sheetrock and then I drove home and everything was fine again - no messages. Any idea why it was giving me the messages when loaded?

We are planning on using the trailer to haul our Corvette out to WI for vacation in a few weeks and dont want to listen to that beeping and messages about trailer disconnected/trailer connected - It will make a long unbearable trip.

I have pulled this trailer many times with my previous truck and no issues so assuming it is something with the system on this truck? Any ideas would be appreciated!

Check for water in the plug. Had close to the same problem with my brakes. Trailer lights worked, camera also had problems. Got it to work, pulled home and went to the dealer due to the truck only being a couple months old. They found water in the plug, replaced the plug with a new one and a bunch of dialectric grease.

Something to check. And my truck has not been in any rain (socal). Just a couple of washes.

Some times the connection in the pins of the plug become loose.

Take a flat blade screw driver and push the pins on the trailer plug back in so they are tighter together.

Mines been doing the same thing for a month... Finally applied dielectric grease to both male and female it so far it has solved the problem! Knock on wood!
