Has anyone been able to do this? I feel like it has plenty of power to...I haven't tried yet but I also have 33" Duratracs so I'm not optimistic lol.

i haven't... i try and drive it like an old man...... but i like that when i punch it.. . its there...

The tires will turn fairly easy. To do a burn you will have to go with a tune. Turn off all the nannies. I always used a hand held tune and removed evey thing I could to see what she would do, then put some TM back in for drivability and longevity.

I had to do a U turn on a 2 lane road with a double cab 4.3...wasnt sure I could make the turn so I turned all the nannies off and did a small brake stand to get them spinning also using M1 and just whipped a 180. It has the power to chirp em I'm sure, but might have to run e85 or a tune to really lay an 11 without standing on the brake first.

The best way to do that with an auto is do like you say, just not as much gas. Just enough gas to get the trans to put it into gear and feel the rear come up, but not enough to actually spin tires. Spinning tires you're already losing traction from the start. That's what I do when I was young and stupid wanting to mess with people like racing or almost. I already drive an auto with 2 feet. I would just keep my foot on the brake, give it just enough gas to load up the trans and pick the rear up without spinning. Once the light turned green I would floor the gas and let go of the brake at the same time. Makes a much better launch with an auto than if you just stomped the gas.

If I do any sort of brake torque and mash the throttle, all I get is wheel spin. However, also if you leave TC on, the nannies wont even let you brake torque over like 1500 rpm. Also most stock tunes will pull timing if you try and brake torque them up. Best launch is heavy into throttle half way, enough to chirp the tires then rolling into it until WOT. Either that or and idle launch in Auto4X.

Regardless, this thread is about breaking traction. The 4.3 will burnout all day. Just like I said, not sure how much with throttle only.

I remember not long after buying the truck I just did it just to see. The rear didn't budge until I took TC off and then it raised like my '98 did. I'm not treating this truck like I did my '89, I just wanted to see if it would do it and found out I just had to turn TC off to do it. Never spun the tires, just let the rear raise and let go of the gas. I believe even the 4.3 in the K2s have more HP and TQ than the 5.7 in my '98 had. So that's no surprise that with these trucks if you mash the gas after loading the trans up that it will just spin. What you can do differently is not WOT it right off the bat, just sort of ease into the throttle. Doesn't have to be slow, just not putting the pedal to the floor as fast as you can.

I just remembered that I've tried 0-60 2 or 3 times and never once spun the tires because I did as I mentioned and just eased the throttle to WOT. Did it with TC on and then off and too be honest there wasn't any difference. I believe these transmissions also have TQ management so it doesn't allow you to 100% TQ from the start.

Oh and plus loading the transmission up like I've been talking about is less stress on the transmission than just flooring it.

Here was my 14 5.3 TC off just stepped on the throttle.

I obviously knew it was going to do that, hence why I left it in M1. But regardless there really isn't a need to brake torque a stock truck, in my findings it usually is slower due to the ecm pulling timing.

Having a flashback of trying to squak 20' optioned wheels/tires on my 06 Charger R/T. My god that 5.7 HEMI was garbage I literally had to be taking a corner hard for the tires to make any sound. As irony would have it the 3.5 V6 could sqwak its smaller tires from a standstill even though its HP/Weight ratio eliminated it from being a muscle car... thanks Dodge.

I would think one prerequisite/helpful activity would be to remove the torque braking nanny (turn it off) and set the fuel enrichment delay to zero.... (i.e. a tune).

When you mat it, the control doesn't believe you are serious for a set number of seconds before it releases "fuel enrichment", i.e. allows the target air fuel ratio to go to 12.6 from 14.7. In my last truck I had that set at zero, thus, when you mat it, you go to 12.6 right now --- not after x seconds.

that'll help....

This thread is making my right foot twitch haha. Thanks y'all. Haven't tried anything yet but will. In reference to the older 5.7's, I have a buddy with a 1994 with a 350 that had less hp and barely any more torque than my 2.5L Colorado did.

Yep those badass 'iconic' Corvette Stingrays from the 80's(?) were pulling a whopping 172 HP or something =D
