I wasn't talking 1500 versus 2500, I was talking 3500hd versus an International, Hino, Freightliner...a true medium duty truck. Just my thoughts...

Ah, I'm following you now. I think when you get to that weight it just depends on the hitch setup your trailer is using and if you can afford it.

L5P and Allison specs at the bottom. Allison looks to be 6 speed still.

So stupid that the Savanah work van gets the 8 speed mated to the 2.8 duramax. But the Colorado and Canyon do not. It's also odd how the Savanah van gets the 8L90 and not the new 8L45. I did notice the ZL1 gets a 10 automatic which is pretty cool if your an automatic fan.

I bet the co developed 10 speed won't be released until the next gen Sierra / Silverado 2018/2019 model year?

Ford has the 10 speed avail for 2017.

I heard rumors of an Allison 8 speed but guess those were just rumors.

GM is putting the 10 speed behind the 650HP LT4 in Camaro in 2017.

The 455 HP LT1 Camaro gets the 8L90.

The 4 cyl and the 335HP LGX 6 cyl camaro get the 8L45

Check out the link posted a couple posts up. It shows the engine and transmission combos for 2017. But I think your right about the 1500's. They'll use the 10speed as a way to get better mileage and new purchases.

Relax boys! GM's numbers are going to be just like they always do......Released numbers are at or slightly above competition i.e. 445hp and 910tq! They are GM numbers not validated so SAE will come in 15-20 higher like always and GM back on top! They have pretty much always had better ratings and MPG's on almost all vehicles compared to competition.

From Fox News! 445 HP and 910 on the TQ . Nice hood scoop for better cool air intake as well. So take your old 2015, 2016 and the new hood and a reload a tune and have a 2017 i guess.

Like another member said earlier, the numbers are all but worthless. I recently bout a 2016 DMax, but looked hard at the F-Series and the Ram HD trucks. The Ram was by far the highest 'rated' but fell flat on what it truly puts to the ground. What good is 900 ft/lbs if it can only muster 600 or so at the wheels.

I wish they would just line them all up on the same dyno every year and see who's really the top dawg.

Have you seen the I70 (Ike Gauntlet) comparisons?

Not dyno, but at least they are all dealing with the same challenge.

I have, yes. I also actually found a dyno challenge amongst the RAM, GM, and Ford. Pretty sure Ford won it, followed by the GM, and then the RAM, but the RAM was way down in terms of its WHP vs. it's rated HP. I'll see if I can locate it again.

It's just a damn pissing contest, but it doesn't mean anything on paper. Line 'em up and run whatcha brung. That's what I think.
