Paint Work Needed

Made a stupid move last weekend... Came home from the lake, backed the boat into the driveway, jumped out of the truck and began to unhitch the boat. Problem is I forgot I was on an incline and didn't block the trailer wheels. You can guess what happened.

Could have been worse, but I scratched up the bumper with the tongue of the trailer. Any ideas what I can expect in terms of repair/repainting costs?

Cannot give any sort of accurate estimate from a pic like that. Hard to tell the depth but since its black I am assumeing scratched right through paint.

Painted Bumper comes off easy enough so not a ton of labor or prep or masking needed.

Most shops may offer to just repair the half of bumper that is damaged for less. Do not opt for this and just have whole bumper done it is almost same amount of work just some extra sanding.

Only estimate I can give is 'should not break the bank maybe 300 usd if the shop rate is good'. but this really depends on the shop rates where you are.

Others on here will hate me for saying it but you could also look on craigslist most cities will have a couple people doing cheqper paint work and the ones I know are also the ones that work in body shops during the day but also do smaller cash jobs. So a good chance the work will be the same. Not saying do this for a whole car but a part you can easily remove ... why not times are tough and we all want to save a buck or make an extra one.

California has some of the highest paint labor and material rates in the country. Assuming the bumper is not twisted at all, you can save yourself some money if you remove and strip the components from the bumper yourself. If you do that, I would put it in the $325 range based on the photo. You can add another $150 or so if you want the shop to remove and install everything.
