Not that I'm aware of, why not use onstar? The remote functions still work without paying for the onstar service.

He is probably approaching the free 3 year limit on the remote start app with his 2014 and does not want to pay for the onstar app. They extended the free period on my 2016 to 5 years for the remote app to be free. I would suggest to just go trade that succa in on a newer model and live happy man. New truck smell AND free remote start app has got to be worth something.........

I thought the 2014 and 2015 trucks were 5 years and the 2016 are 3 years. I got a letter that it is only 3 years on my 2016.

Green, please update with details about what you have and what you want to do.

I got the app for 5 years free with my 2015. I plan to keep the truck well beyond that, and never give onstar one cent of my money. so I also want to know what my options are after these 5 years are up.

I would even consider paying a small fee to keep the app running without getting all the "benefits" of onstar.

^ These guys are nuts.

I like my OnStar, best customer service I ever had and for $300+ (paying a little less insurance because of all the anti theft features) / yr I cannot see how anyone that can afford a new car and think that is expensive. I mean unless you are the type who makes bad choices like financing a car with 0 down for 84 months or something remarkably stupid like that.

Update...just got it to work again. At first it told me to upgrade now it works...weird. How many years is it free on the 2014's?

My app stopped working months ago. Two years on the 14's so I guess I would have to buy Onstar.

My 14 is still working. Its good for 5yrs. Have you perhaps updated the app to a newer version? I had to do that in the past when it prompted me to update the remote app.

If you pay $300 a year for anti-theft features and customer service, and are happy with that, then more power to you.

I live in an area with low crime and I park it in a garage so anti-theft is a waste of money for me. All the other "features" of onstar are available on my smart phone already, so why burn another $25 per month??

i never used the onstar app.. i use the MyGMC app on my iphone.. .its pretty slick...and you can still use the features on your basic onstar support.... or like mine, when the trial runs out.

1. open your MyGMC app (or My Chevrolet App like i have)

2. select "Key Fob"

3. look at the little logo in the upper right corner

I wonder if Onstar will let you use their functions after the 5 years is up.....
