Please help me decide ..2014 sle all terrain vs slt 4x4

So I'm driving to Fort Worth tomorrow to buy my gmc I had originally decided on a 2014 sle all terrain with 40k miles. It's black with the leather trimming and cloth seats, pretty much loaded with center console, main reason I picked that over the z71s they have since it has no center console. Anyways they have a slt obviously fully loaded silver truck black leather seats and little more flashy center console with the same miles and price.

Should I go for the black with the matching bumper and the al terrain version even though I live in San Antonio and hardly put my trucks in 4x4 or go with the slt that has chrome everywhere but I can always delete that and paint to match.

Is the all terrain that much better off roading than the regular 4x4 if I decide to hit the beach or ranch?

Thank you for your time.

Not a bunch of difference in the AT and the regular 4x4. Rancho shocks and some skid plates really. Either will be a nice truck. I'd drive both and park them side by side and see which one you like the best. I've had 2 ATs but both are SLTs. I personally love the interior and the color matched bumpers myself.

Well both are lifted 7.5 inches with aftermarket rims and tires installed by dealer. So I was wondering if the all terrain had any better performance or something. I can always paint to match the silver slt to all silver or keep the all terrain as is. It no leather seats which doesn't bother me.

Me personally, id rather take the truck with 4x4. Im a rather have and not need type of guy. Im also in the military and can be stationed in Florida one year and Alaska the next so my situation is different. Living in Texas you will probably never need 4wd, ive had many friends do fine driving on the beaches in Galveston with 2wd. When it comes down to it, look at both trucks throughly and buy the one that excites you more because nothing is worse than deciding the color wasnt what you truly liked and having to live with it everyday there after.

Steve no both trucks are 4x4 but one is an all terrain 4x4 sle and the other is just a slt 4x4 I was wondering if the all terrain has any advantages off road then a regular one other than that it's either all black all terrain or silver slt with chrome bumpers with grill fully loaded vs the all terrain cloth seats with leather trimming pretty much.

short answer is no. The All Terrain has different shock dampening, skid plates and unique decor, badging. Either truck will suit you fine driving on the beach. Buy which one excites your eyes without reserve.

One thing the AT has that I wish my truck had is the hill descent switch. It's the same idea as grade braking (which all have) but for off-road purposes. I live in BC and if I want to go fishing, I can have some steep hills and the hill descent would be nice.

The rest of the AT features can be added (skid plates, better shocks) but you can't add the hill descent.

And I do like the colour match on the AT's.

I agree that you should pick the truck that looks the best. The 7.5 inch lift c/w new wheels negates the subtle cosmetic differences between the two choices!

I picked the black all terrain sle over the 4x4 slt. I've always had lifted dodge rams. It this gmc wow. I'm in love already. She just needs tint and little bit of stance.
