How long to increase Temp gauge

I have a 2006 silverado 1500 LS 4.3L. I noticed recently that when I drive the temp gauge doesn't seem to increase, but I don't drive for more than maybe 30 min at a time. Is this normal. The weather out here is about 90 F during the day

No. Bad stepper.

The needle should be up to around 210 within 5-10 minutes.

 

If that's not the case, either your thermostat is stuck open or you have a bad gauge.
