I purchased a 2016 Silverado 1500 Z71 4x4 in January and have some questions due to this being my first Chevy truck. First off this truck has/had horrible hesitation/throttle response when taking off. I pulled out into traffic and almost got t-boned as it seemed like forever before the truck took off. Is this normal when new? Also it has a noticeable vibration when going from 8cyl and dropping into 4cyl mode. Is this normal? Almost feels like it in the wrong gear. Sometimes when driving normal and attempting to pass on the highway it feels like it has no power. It reminds me of driving an old 4cyl car loaded down with the air conditioning on (no power).. I asked the dealer at the first oil change and they looked at me like I had 2 heads. Of course they just said it was probably going through a break in period. Now at 8500 mi it's still a dog..... Any info would greatly be appreciated.

Don't sound normal,I have the 5.3 in mine and it has 0 hesitation. Actually I'm amazed how good it does run. Maybe go back to your dealer and test drive another truck see how it runs?

I suggest you try to drive this truck a bit more aggressively a to see if the transmission shifting changes as a result.

I do agree with you on this, when I first got my truck it did shift hard. It took about a month so too smooth out. But I can say a year later...it shifts super smooth now.

My GMC is the same way. I drove a 2016 and it was also the same. I get in my father's Tundra and holy crap does that take off. I wish mine was more like that but I guess it is the nature of the GM trucks.

As far as the shifting, yes it does "learn" how you drive and adjusts accordingly. Mine sucked at first and now it is ok at 4100 miles.

The vibration in 4 cylinder mode... I quickly bought a Range AFM disabler and poof, 4 mode and vibration gone. DO IT.

It is a drive by wire system and when you push the gas pedal it is NOT hooked to anything except for a computer. i have heard that it can be reprogrammed to react much better with a tune. It is a bit of a shock to drive anything else after driving a GM truck for a while, even my wife's grocery getter 17 year old Windstar van. I got the LOOK the other day when I pulled out of the drive and the tires lost grip in the van I was so used to pushing the pedal halfway down in my truck to get it going and if you do that in the van it smokes the tires LOL. In the truck even if you stomp all the way down torgue management kicks in and she just kinda squirms feels weird
