My factory navigation will not let me type in well known addresses and it can never understand me. Is there a setting I need to change. It just blacks out certain letters on the keypad whIle I'm trying to type and address.

I don't have the nav from chevy, but my Toyota did the same thing. On that one, I had to choose my region in the settings. So, if I'm in WI and driving to a different region, like Florida, I had to switch the setting, or it'd never let me enter the address. Take a look around for that setting and make sure its right. Assuming it's a similar system to my old Toyota.

 

Anyone with nav know if this is the problem?

Yeah it is a bit annoying but you have to enter the information in a certain order. I just did this yesterday and after I picked the "correct" state (was automatically set on TN and i needed IL LOL) it allowed me to enter the street name and then the address. It does seem like on the older ones you could just type in the entire address and then it would inquire as to which state. Something has changed.....

OK I figured it out I was going to the screen that said destination instead of just typing in the box at the top that said address
