Long lasting tires.

I have the stock 20" Goodyear tires on my truck. I now have 70,000 miles on it and when I checked the tread depth yesterday, I show 5/32 tread left.

I looked up the Goodyear website and it shows they came with 11/32.

 

So if you figure that 2/32 is at the wear bars, that only gives you 9/32 of actual wear to the wear bar.

I wish that only meant they were a half way worn, because I would like to get an addition 70,000 miles out of them.

 

I will have to change them in the next few months since winter is coming and I don't want low tread when I could run into heavy rain or standing puddles of water.

If you got 70K out of those and didn't have any issues I believe I'd put the same tires back on. All the tire manufactures claim the lifespan of the tires to be 6 or 7 years no matter the tread life so you're there already.

Yes, and 3 of them are showing signs of small sidewall cracking. But I should expect that.....the truck is going on 8 years old. Time for getting new tires.

People tell me to put tire dressing on them and that will keep them from cracking.

 

I noticed when that is done the truck has to sit for a few hours because any extra dressing will come off the tires and onto the sides of the truck.

 

Then I have a mess on a nice clean truck!
