Deep Ocean Blue Owners: Help Needed

Agreed. I actually like the look of the 275/65's vs a 305/55 on a 20" wheel option. Gives it more of the look of a stock 2500 with a leveling kit. Plus...275/65's are usually cheaper.

About the only 20" I am considering is the black GMC AT Replicas with a machined face.

275's are barely bigger then 265's, I think your truck looks proportional!

Thank you. Mine are 275/65-20. Which fills out the well more.

Honestly, getting rid of that snowplow of a valance makes a huge difference in the overall look of the truck and it looking taller. I'll have the Mazzulla skid on there soon. I already drag mine pulling in and out of fields on the farm and my buddy's hunt camp regularly.

The valance/air dam was 7" tall on my truck. Between the 2" level and removing the plastic, I gained 9" of clearance under the bumper. I was glad I did that on Monday when I drove through a creek to get to a field where we were running beans. The water was about 12" deep with some basketball sized rocks along the banks. Truck made it through without any scraping or damage. I was way more nervous when dad said he was taking my truck back across. Let's just say, he doesn't exactly go easy on his trucks. Haha

I painted it myself. Went to the local PPG paint dealer and had them mix the paint and put it in a spray can.

Did the same thing with my wife's Malibu. I sprayed it back in 2013 and it still looks good with no rock chips.

I painted them on the vehicle and covered them with plastic drop cloths.

I was going to cover mine in black vinyl since I usually have some left over from projects at work, but I kind of like that color match.

On the original note, I finally pulled the trigger on some wheels and tires. They should be here in the next few days and I'll be installing the MotoFab leveling kit +2.5/+1 later this week when my buddy has a lift free in his shop.

Wheel/Tire will be

17x8 XD RG1's +0 in Black

295/70/17 Toyo RT

I wanted a machined face but pretty much everything I liked was backordered or the shipping from the people that had it kind of killed the deal.

Just an FYI. EBay has the $100 off $400 deal right now with discount tire direct.

I'm gonna buy some STT Pros, 2 sets of 2 so I can save $200.

Thanks. I made the bumper skid myself. I also replaced the factory plastic skid plate with the optional aluminum skid plates.

That was my problem too. I didn't want to go with all black and I didn't want all silver/chrome although I do like all choices. So I ended up getting the 20x9 XD 820 Grenades in black w/machined face and I must say, I love how they look with the blue.

Looks sharp. It looks like a factory option, so you did a great job!

    • Are you going to take long trips in it?  If so, try out the seats in the various trims. For me the lower trim level seats were not comfortable.
    • I have a 2016 that I bought new and still own. I'm around 129,000 miles now. The biggest problem was a transmission failure about 2 years ago around 95000 miles. No warning, just failed while driving down a back road. A reman GM transmission installed and it's been fine ever since. A few other minor problems along the way. I am in no hurry to replace it. It's been paid off long ago and do plan on driving this as long as I can.   I will admit I am leery about all the additional electronics in the newer models and feel that it is just more potential problems. I think there's actually more than I would have wanted in this 2016 but so far so good. I think even if something major like lifter failure happened, it would still be cheaper to at worst, drop a new engine in than buy a new vehicle.
    • I’ve own several successful businesses. I’ve bought homes and lived in different states. I’d witness several generations buy homes and survive in different economic circumstances. You get awful sippy when people have different experiences than you do. You live a life. I’ve lived a life. It seems our experience has been different. You can point out generalized statistics. Some people learn how to thrive when the odds are against them. Living in different states does make a difference in a persons quality of life and economic outcomes and opportunities. That’s a fact Jack. It’s my truth, my life. Hard work and long hours the right environment made my families life easier. And yes moving to a different state increased the odds of that happening. Stats are generalized. People who thrive don’t make excuses. They beat the odds. Others get mad and point to those statistics. I guess that’s you. My post pointed out how you helped people beat the odds. Somehow your panties got in a wad. Go figure.
    • Good question, I don't remember for sure but I believe it was the HD. I will check and get back to you.
