has anyone installed a oem backup camera on a 2014 sierra 1500 base with io3?

from what i understand my truck is already prewired for a backup camera from what this MVI video states.

I did io3 to io5. I thought i was pre-wired too via that video but turned out I had to get the wiring kit from him to make the backup camera work.
I tried plugging in the tailgate handle camera that they sent, but all i got was the "service rear vision system" when in reverse.
He sent me the wiring kit after that and I hooked it all up and works perfectly now.

huh i have the io3 also and i plugged in the camera just to see what it would do but it does nothing. I dont have my HMI programmed or anything. how much did all of it cost and was it plug and play? im thinking of going that route also but MVI hasnt emailed me back or anything..

I did the io3 to io5 upgrade so i got a programmed HMI and the 8in screen, as well as the backup camera. Everything was plug and play (with some wire connecting into the BCM) but everything he sent me works great. Now i have Bluetooth, xm, and the backup camera. all of that set my back around $1600. It did take some time to get the wire harnesses and wires run where they need to though.

But all of that was upgrading to the large touch screen because i wanted the bluetooth and xm radio. If all you're wanting is just the backup camera for the io3 i'm not sure how that goes, but good luck!

I just purchased the upgrade kit as well, where did you run the xm attena through to get to the module and the Bluetooth mic where did you run that wire

Where are you guys buying this kit from?

I had IO4 and I upgraded to IO6 HMI and it was programmed for the backup camera. I installed the OEM camera and checked the rear body X1 and it looks like it's definitely wired for back up camera. According to the video and these guys; GM-Upfitter

 

It won't show the image on the monitor in the cab so I am wondering if I have to have the BCM flashed in order for it to work. I did notice ob2014 mentioned a wire connecting to the BCM, maybe this is all I need.

I am also wondering if anyone knows what wires are needed from the HMI to the back of the radio screen?

I got the kit from mvi auto spa and let me tell you works flawless, now the harness I got from them there was some wires to the bcm

      Can you sample the pooled liquid, enough to confirm it is oil?   ...That its not fuel or coolant.   Also, make sure combustion gases aren't entering the cooling system.   Simply put, either oil being pushed up past the rings (this really isn't possible), oil leaking past the head gasket, oil leaking past the valve, oil entering through the intake air path. If none of this is likely - it may not be oil.   What could be likely is the fuel injector leaking down. A puddle of gas would still smoke and rough idle. (Same cylinder has the same problem after injector replacement?)   What is the crank time first thing in the morning, when the puddle would be present? Does it seem like the high pressure fuel pump needs an extra second or two to rebuild the pressure that injector 8 may have let bleed off? Check the fuel pressure via a scanner prior to starting the engine.

      Good information!  I didn't know about the dementia aspect and asked for a general for my second knee. I'd heard that recovery room time is usually shorter with a general.   The anesthesiologist talked me out of it and I had the spinal.  Inconvenience and/or discomfort is a small price to pay for reduced risk!

      This is for those over 70 years of age contemplating joint replacement surgery involving general anesthesia. Even some 55 yrs. ago when I took my pharmacology class the dangers of developing dementia in the elderly that had general anesthesia were beginning to be recognized. Over the years there has been some refinement in the cautionary warnings, avoid general anesthesia if possible if you've had close to 10 priors, especially over the age of 70 and/or a family history of dementia. I'm not including the twilight anesthesia induced by propofol often used in cytoscopies or colonscopies. Seriously think about seeing a neurologist and undergo cognitive testing before proceeding if any of those criteria apply to you. Spinal anesthesia may be an option in some cases. I'm in the above camp and although I could use a new right knee, I get fidgety according to a prior orthopedic surgeon when the bone saw spools up or maybe it was the smell of saw blade meeting bone, anyhow I may have one general anesthesia left in me which I will pocket for now and I'm choosing mind over mobility, anyway where did I leave my damn cane!
