Just an Observation

My girlfriend lives in a very small town in rural upstate SC. There are plenty of old C/K's and other brand trucks rolling around completely stock still around there. One common comment I see on here is how with older trucks, 4x4 drivetrains made the truck sit up higher than the 2WD counterpart. From my observations, that really isn't true, at least with the C/K's which are generally the more common, but the difference with most domestic half tons I saw were slight if anything. Comments?

First time i noticed gm trucks sitting at or close to the same level 4wd and 2wd was 07. Every truck before that had an obvious difference in height.

The front end of an (older) 2wd is much lower, the rear not so much.

You can see a 2wd truck coming at you down the road because there's almost no light coming under the vehicle.

Up in the great northern snowy region, there are far fewer of the 2wd's so when you see one, you can tell it sticks out.

On the CK trucks it's really obvious, the 2wd's only have 5 lugs and usually 15" wheels and sit much lower. The 99+ there isn't quite as much of a difference, but the 4x4 trucks are still noticeably higher.

You will notice more clearance over the front wheel-well and the front hub protruding from the "hubcap"!
