Do I have this right?

I did a magnaflow muffler swap on my 6.2l. I left the flapper valve and resonator on. Was not conpletly happy with the sound i got as it was not much louder than stock. I then clamped thw flapper valve open and immediately woke it up. Now sounds nice and agressive but no real drone on the inside while cruising. If i were to do it all again i would have removed the valve. I am curious as to how much louder it would be with the resonator removed.

thread hiJack is a myth..... what about them cubs?

I would like my 16 Sierra Denali 6.2L a little louder as well... If I had to give a sound comparison I would like the new truck to sound like my 08 SD with 6.2L did stock.... The 08 had better cold start up rumble and great sound when giving it gas. Don't get me wrong I love my 16 just want to tweak the sound without going too loud like the original OP states. I have opened the flapper on the exhaust and get a little better sound but not the level that sounds good without being disruptive. Thanks for your inputs.

I used original intermediate pipe, 22" magnaflow 3.5 in & out, 3.5" pipe , no resonator, 4.5" tip.

Nice sound, quiet cruise, not too loud, not too quiet, very pleased

Had some free time so stopped by the local muffler shop and got it done! Magnoflow muffer, cut off valve and resonator to single pipe

Sounds perfect to me on the outside, not too loud but definitely can hear it

However, I am getting a lot of drone/in cabin noise when accelerating. I'm not liking this part as that's what I mainly wanted to avoid. I left my muffler and resonator at the shop, which they probably threw away now :(

I'm just going to leave it like this for a few weeks and see how it is, if it's too bad, I might find like a universal resonator or something...

Resonator back in. Quiet it down A LOT outside and inside. Still a little louder than stock...I guess this is the best I can get for what I'm looking for.
