TRANMISSION ROUGH 2-3 UPSHIFT

2014 SILVERADO, 5.3L, 3.42 Rear end, 65,000miles,

 

I am getting a transmission harsh/rough shift from 1-2 sometimes, but mainly 2-3 in the morning when it is cold. Seems like pressures are high and it just slams it into gear. Other gears seem smooth and fine above 3rd, down shifts fine.

 

I live in Minnesota, weather/temp around 30-40F in morning, 60F in afternoon.

 

Notice it only does this the first 1-2 miles going thru small inner city streets, stop and go until tranny warms to 100-120F. May have never noticed as I moved recently and had always gotten on the free way in the morning.

 

Anyone have any ideas why? Anyone else's truck showing this?

 

I have been told by the dealer the truck attempts to warm the tranny in the morning, with higher flow and line pressure, so shifts are more noticeable. But why more apparent at 60 k than mile #1?

 

Had a 2010 Silverado smoke the tranny. Worried this is going down the same path.

I have a 2016 with 8k miles and I have a 1-2 shift that hits incredibly hard. Wish I had an answer, but I'm in the same boat. Wondering how I can keep this truck as it seems to be a matter of time before the tranny goes completely.

I've had the very same issue. I have a 2015 Silverado 6.2L with an 8 speed. The 1-2 upshift was very harsh when the engine was cold. It made the rear tires chirp a few times under very light throttle. After it warms up, the shifts become smoother.

 

I took my truck in this week for an oil change and an air bag reprogram. The service advisor told me they also had a recall notice for a torque converter shutter. They reprogrammed the computer and so far, the shifts seem better. It's still a little jerky through the lower gears.
